Ozark Missouri High School

Each year for the past six years, I've worked the local Business Expo at the Ozark High School.  This is one of the greatest times to network with all the business vendors in the area.

This year is no excepion to my difficulty in figuring out what would be good promo items to give away.  I have the normal scratch pads, letter openers, refrigerator magnets, etc.  One of the best items I've found is magnetic screwdrivers.  A little costly, but everyone loves them.

The Ozark High School allows the local Chamber of Commerce to hold the Business Expo in one of the great auditoriums of the school.  We usually have a very large turn out and each year the expo grows.  With Christian County being the fastest growing county in Missouri, small businesses are poping up on a daily basis.

Anyone have better ideas?

I do chocolate bars and print the wrappers off at home.  I did a blog entry on it -- is it OK to post that kind of thing here???  If I'm hijacking go on and delete this, I don't mind.  The candy bars are Here and Elena Thurston was nice enough to share her water bottle template with me.

I thank you for the links Sarah. I enjoy link sharing in the comments (when they're on topic).  I hope Kaye does too!  I'm rating both of your posts 5 and bookmarking them.

I have never done a trinket giveaway before, but I'm thinking of doing a pen giveaway at my next Home and Garden show.

To build daabase, I like a Lowe's gift card giveaway, with email address needed to qualify.

Hi Kay,

My wife is in the promotional business for over 20 years. During the winter, she had a few agents order credit card size ice scrappers with the agents contact info.

She also has this rubber thing that goes on the dash board that holds your cell phone and people seem to always use that.

During the spring and summer, it's pens, magnet spring calendars that start in April.

Also water bottle, umbrellas, inexpensive bags for the beach, if the brokers do events like golf outings, golf balls, tees, towels beach balls, frisbees, the list is endless.

Oh I forgot, one simple thing that every homeowner keeps, are the sponges she makes for offices.

You can check her web site

My favorite Promotions are the FREE ones my lender provides for me.  I am a mortgage broker and one of the lenders we work with has a huge nationwide sweepstakes every quarter (or close to every quarter).  I put a blog on here about it already.

I am not licensed in your area, but if you want to use these promotions you can down load and print out flyers from the promotions page on my website.  Then next time you can call a bunch of mortgage brokers in your area and see if they have the same lender, and you can partner with them.

Honestly... the best promotion I've seen was Cruises... yes I said Cruises...

There are companies that do cruises out of Ft Lauderdale and Miami that are 3-4 days at most... just run to San Juan or Grand Bahama for the weekend.

I know someone that would buy 20 cruises at a time for $1000.... yep... $50/cruise

They would definitely get some coverage if you were at the business expo and raffled them off!

Not to mention, that's a free database

Kay. I have a (2bar) Kit Kat bar template I use to make a new wrapper for the candy. I started using them for my son's birth announcement, a bridal shower, and now at open houses with my info on them. It takes a bit of time to print and wrap, but they turn out awesome.

Wow!  I woke up this morning to some great comments and ideas from all of you.  And I got featured to boot!  Thanks guys.

Luke, this is one of the best places to live.  I love this little town.  I can't see you bulling your way anywhere.  Our market has some cut throat agents, but the friendly competition is great here.

Sabine, I've seen some of the pocket notebooks.  I'll check into those.  Thanks.

Debbie, I'm not going to Atlanta either.  Green with envy.  There will be others.

Mario, the note pads have always been a keeper.  I've ran out several times at the expos.  Thank you for your comment.

Pete and Thesa - I just received my magnetic boards yesterday.  Ordered and received them in one day.  Thanks.  I ordered the same as Pete, so now I'll have to try Theresa's.

Sarah, I've seen the water bottle labels.  I'll keep looking and let you know.

Beth - I've handed out the grippers before too.  I'd forgot about them.  Thanks.

Ardell, how do you hand out blogs?  I'm thinking of a presentation featuring the blog.

Chris, thank you.  I really like the Honey Do List (Hmmmm! Wonder if I can get my hubby one of these?)  Hadn't thought of water bottles either.  Thank you.

Chris and Sarah - what a great idea.  I bet I can print them up quick this week.  Thanks for sharing.  I bet Elana gets good feedback too.  Thanks Sarah for the bookmark.

Mike, I give the Lowe's certificate as part of our closing gifts - great idea.

Gary, thanks so much.  I handed out frisbees at the Christmas parades - kids think we're great!  The sponges I've never done.  Will check into that too.  Thanks.

Brian, I work with several lenders, but they are working the expo with me.  I really like all their promo items.  Thanks.  I'll check your links as well.

David, I want to know how to get 20 cruises for $1000.  Might not give them away and take the office instead. LOL  What a great idea.  I bet the booth would be very busy.  Might try this at the Springfield Business Expo.

Angela and Chris - I'm going to Sam's to get the bars today.  Got to try this one.  Thanks.

I've been mailing to my farm area magnetic calendar every year and they absolutely love them.  They are personalized with my photo and contact information.  If for reason they get mailed out late they actually have called looking for them.  I like  Magets USAthey are the most reasonable we've found Thur the years.
