This is an exciting week for us in the Owen House. Our son is graduating from High School tonight, and much of our family is here for the celebration. Saturday night, we had a "grill-out" for 35 (or so) people in the front yard - All the close neighbors, our family, and Tyler's school friends in quite a hodge-podge of a mixture of people. There were 2 year old children and 85 year old Grandparents . . . and all kinds of people in-between . . . All there to celebrate Tyler's accomplishment . . . and we're sending him off into the "wild" to find his way - Hoping that his 18 years with us have taught him the basics that'll carry him through what stands in his path.
A few questions surfaced this morning . . . Questions we could all probably stand to ask ourselves at least once every week. Sometimes, it takes a "major life event" for the family to come together after which everyone returns to their "own lives" . . . truth is . . . We're all in this thing together.
Have you stayed in touch with the ones you love?
You have a superb database of your clients and prospects - Do you have another of Friends and family?
Do you "Touch" everyone you love as frequently as your 33 touch program to your METS?
Is there time in every day for connecting with these people who really MATTER in your life?
Do you do random "drop-bys" and spontaneous invitations for lunch or coffee with family and friends?
Occasional whirlwind trips out of town to vist them?
How 'bout yourself? Is there time for you to step away from it ALL and simply reflect on your good fortune?
Is there time to laugh and play and hug and cry and celebrate and love?
All of this surfaced for me as I contemplated the week and realized that I do a LOT of blogging about building an effective real estate business here (Makes sense because I am a "Real Estate Professional, and Principal Broker, and a Business Coach/consultant) . . .
I think we are in this to find some sense of BALANCE in our lives. Our careers should be our means to our goals . . . and our goals are those things in our lives that truly matter.
Keep it all in perspective!
YES - Find great success . . . but don't forget those people in your life who really matter and will ALWAYS be there for you even if you have "forgotten" them as you've been "self-absorbed" in your journey down the trail of success.
So when you lead generate - Do your deal - Make contact with 10 new people every day - Call 5 "Mets" for business - Write 15 notes - Preview 5 houses . . . AND make genuine contact with 5 people you love . . . with NO strings attached :-)
Best,
b
