ANOTHER STACH SZYDLOWSKI WALLEYE

MY WIFE AND I MOVED TO THE AREA 5 YEARS AGO AND SINCE THEN HAVE ENJOYED THE LAKES, STREAMS AND RIVERS OF SUSSEX COUNTY AND IN PERTICULAR, LAKE HOPATCONG.

LAKE HOPATCONG STRADDLES THE BORDER OF BOTH MORRIS AND SUSSEX COUNTIES AND HAS TOWNSHIPS REPRESENTED BY JEFFERSON, HOPATCONG, ROXBURY AND MOUNT ARLINGTON. THE FISHING CAN BE SUPERB.

MUSKIES, WALLEYES,STRIPER HYBRIDS, WHITE PERCH, TROUT, BLUEGILL, LARGE AND SMALLMOUTH BASS, CRAPPIE, CATFISH, PICKEREL, ROCK BASS, ETC, ETC, ETC.... CAN BE CAUGHT WITH RAPIDITY AND SOMETIMES WITH EASE! THE CRAPPIE CAN REACH ASTOUNDING SIZE AND SOME OF THE BIGGEST WHITE PERCH I HAVE EVER CAUGHT COME FROM HOPATCONG. 14" SPECIMENS ARE  AVAILABLE AND ARE SUPERB EATING.

WE HAVE FISHED HOPATCONG IN ALL WEATHER, SEASONS AND TIME OF DAY...

BUT THE FINEST FISHING IS NOW.

GET OUT AND GO FISHING!!!!!

I should have my camera along more often, as we let most of the big ones go, There is not enough time to snap photos and we want to get them back in the water.. We keep the walleyes though!!!!

We don't have walleye here but I have heard they are great eating fish...are they fun to catch?

They are a great eating fish but when the water is cold they feel like you are snagged on a boot but the eating is worth that!

During warmer times, however, they fight fairly well.... especially the larger specimens!

I forgot about your lake!  Loads of persons I used to work with in the Bronx years ago lived there.  They loved it.  Now I know why.

I grew up in Sussex County - and Lake Hopatcong is HUGE!! :)     Did you know they used to harvest ice off that lake back in the day of 'ice boxes'?

Have a great weekend Chip :)
