Staging in the Rain
This is not about our stagers here in the Rain, and there are some terrific ones, but I had to come up with a clever, but realistic, title.
I had a staging scheduled for this past Tuesday for a wonderful 1-bedroom condo near San Diego State University I am bringing to the market tomorrow. It figures that our first, and badly needed, rain of our supposed rainy season would be that day.
The condo is in an urban area not far from downtown, so parking is a challenge. And as luck would have it the city had put out no parking signs for some reason that was not obvious – nothing was happening - in the available parking areas in front of the building and on side streets.
Thankfully there was a parking space for the stager in one of the 4 first-come first-served tenant spaces (rarely empty), and the truck driver just took a chance parking in the cul-de-sac in front of the building.
They were able to unload everything quickly into the reception area – it’s only a 1-bedroom condo - and the rain let up as well.
The stager, Theresa Dow, did a great job and didn’t let anything trouble her, at least from what I could tell. No doubt she, and perhaps all stagers, are used to unforeseen circumstances, as we are. You go with the flow, find a solution, and get it done. Grousing about it doesn’t help and that creates a bad impression anyhow!
The service from Topiary Staging was outstanding and I have owner Janice Monastra to thank for being able to get this set up quickly once the seller painted the unit and had the carpets and condo cleaned just a few days prior. And a special thank you to friend Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor,CRS,e-Pro for the recommendation!
And it was a painful day for me, literally – the stomach pain had started Monday night and I wasn’t sure I could even meet the stager, and the seller was not going to be available. But I did what I had to do, with the end result a trip to the ER at 2:30 am Wednesday morning and an appendectomy mid-day. Interesting the curve balls life throws us!
