What Kind of Sound Do You Hear When Your Cat Purrs?

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Do you realize how incredibly diverse cat purrs are? The more cats you bond with in your life, the more you realize how different they sound. With some cats, you might feel the vibration but not actually hear the purr itself. Other cats are so danged loud they wake you up in the middle of the night, and I'm speaking from experience about this one.

Why can't they let you sleep? Don't they see your eyes are closed, you're not moving, and it's not yet time to get up? You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Can You Hear the Sound When Your Cat Purrs?

Elizabeth, being another cat lover, both my cats are definitely different.  Mia is so loud, you could hear her in the other room, and Aja always purrs, but it is soft.

Hi Elizabeth... my 20 pound bruiser of a cat, Oliver, has a very soft purr and little meow. Very incongruous for such a big guy.

I have  a cat that never stops purring.   Even the vet said she could not hear much because of it.

Hi Elizabeth -I haven't had a cat in years but do remember the beautiful sound of their purring. Very different from the barks my Brittany used to make.

Elizabeth,

It depends on the cat.  When we had three that were related, each purr was different as was their meaow.  We could tell the difference. A

Jackson could wake up the dead with his purr and it would be alright with me.

Myrl Jeffcoat He does wake the dead when he wakes me up. Why can't he let me continue to sleep at 4 AM? He also butts his head under my hand.
