Sometimes, due to my knowledge of real estate in the Danbury area, I am contacted prospects that claim to have family members potentially moving up to the area. Although I appreciate the call and opportunity to provide information, it's not exactly what I need. Please have them contact me directly so information doesn't get lost in translation & I'm able to provide them with ongoing information. Even if you contact my to preview homes in advance for a family member going, I am still obligated to make you sign a buyer's agency agreement under state consumer protection laws just like I would have to do when your family member would be in the area. The agency agreements allows to us to partner together, gives me certain responsibilities to help you, grants you obligation to work with me, and allows me to introduce you to all available properties, not those just listed through my office.
I can understand how you think that you are trying to help. It can be difficult trying to find a new place, especially if they have needs that could limit the potential number of properties that they should consider & aren't currently in the area-but leave the real estate details to the pro. In addition, when I speak with them, I can go more in depth with the home buying process, timing of when they'd like to ideally be settled into a new address, property values, how the homes are typically laid out and other pertinent information related to their move.
