Reaching More with Video Reports
If you know me, you know Charlie Dresen from Steamboat Springs, Colorado is my video hero. Seriously. Take some time to visit his YouTube Channel and you'll see what I mean.
Warning: Try no to get discouraged with Charlie's level of video expertise, turn it into inspiration. Do your best to emulate his quality. By the way, he uses a Canon EOS 70D ( my own choice for video now, thanks to his recommendation) and obviously external mics and tripods, and other cool gear. No shaky camera work from Charlie. Plus, note the inclusion of the natural sound in his market report - it is something to keep in mind for your own videos.
I have seen a number of market report videos of late in Active Rain. Most show the agent sitting at a desk or standing somewhere, and talking, and talking, and talking. Recently, in the Q and A, Praful Thakker asked for input regarding videos - specifcally he's considering if it's worth it to do video market reports. . IMHO, only do it you know your video is both informative, and entertaining.
Charlie wisely uses his partner, different locations (I've seen one where he's on a Ski Gondola with gorgeous background scenery - he's making connections) and inserts graphics to back up the numbers.
If you're interested in producing quality videos, and you aren't a subscriber of Charlie's blog, do yourself a favor and subscribe! Who knows, maybe your click-through rates will improve too.
As agents, thinking outside the box is a cliche but it's absolutely imperative to survive in this competitive industry. I started creating videos for delivering my monthly marketing report and it's working. Meaning, more people are engaging my material and results are solid. My click-through rates is better than ever.
Let me know what you think. Or send me a message if you need a tip to get started.
Regards,
Charlie
