Right now, in the Dallas / Fort Worth area our real estate market is very strong! Pre owned as well as new construction is on the rise. A career in real estate is very appealing. A quick way to make money. Real Estate Agents do not have to work much. Part time careers will allow you to enjoy life and have more time for family and friends. If your following agents on social media you no doubt have the idea that we party all the time. Constantly enjoying food, wine and networking events. Have you heard any of these statements? Well, let me share a few insights.
- What do you wish you had known the very first year you were in the business that cost you lost business or income?
Simple - How To Generate Leads! Let everyone you know that you are now ready to be their go to person for any real estate needs. Don't get sucked into buying leads or long term contracts from companies offering to do what you are capable of doing. Don't be afraid to ask for business.
- Was there ever a time you questioned whether you had made the right choice of being a real estate agent? What events caused you to stick with it and succeed? Honestly real estate school teaches mostly the law of real estate, what is expected from you as an agent and how to write contracts. Actually, it deceits the contract! Which is great, but there is so much more to being successful. Yes, I have had challenges. No, I'm not thinking I made the wrong choice. There could be a couple months between commissions. It's a tough career. Having a supportive family has been my greatest asset.
- What are 3 things you have learned along the way that have positively affected you and helped improve your real estate business? 1. Do not take it personally! You won't be a match for every prospect you encounter. 2 Learn to deal with what comes your way. Work with both parties, buyers & sellers until you decide what is a better fit for you. I love social media, making fliers and the challenge of listing homes. Working with buyers is also a challenge. With a different set of rules! Learn to listen. I believe I mentioned that earlier. 3 Treat your career as a business. Set schedules and continue your education. Network with other vendors in your market.
