January is by far my least favorite month weather-wise living in Colorado. Just about every year, I reflect in January and ask my self why I moved from sunny Southern California to Colorado. Of course, I really don't regret a thing, other than the warm sandy beaches and the ability to grow just about any type of plant regardless of what the calendar says.
The temperatures are typically very cold in Colorado in January. Many evenings, the mercury falls into the single digits. It's the kind of cold that makes you feel like your nostrils are freezing shut when you venture outside. This January has been unusually warm however. Regardless, the nights are still very chilly.
Right after Christmas, I started crocheting a blanket as a topper for our bed. I just needed something extra to keep me warm at nights so I could snuggle down like a bug in a rug and feel warm all night long. It is finally done after many hours and many skeins of yarn.
Now I can leave the thermostat set to 58 degrees at night without freezing in bed. As long as I don't have to get up during the night, I am toasty and warm until the morning comes.
