How a Glowing toilet SOLD a home?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Godzyk Real Estate Services NH License 033394

It was shear panic. As the buyers children gleefully loved the neon glowing toilet. Mrs. Buyer had a melt down thinking her kids threw a light into the toilet of this Manchester NH area Home.  We all ran to the bathroom to see what was the matter.

What we found was the newest sensation. A Motion Activated Toilet Night Led Light with 8 Colors of Changing Led Lights.

The buyer laughed, then cried tears of happiness her kids did not break anything. The kids loved the toilet, it made their day. They wanted the home. As luck would have it Mrs. Buyer loved the home too. But Mr. buyer was at work. Could I come back and show him? Then the kicker, how about 6am Saturday morning? That is fine with me and the seller is out of town.

I showed Mr. Buyer and he loved the home too. The kids were not around this morning but they did send a request. If they buy the home can the light stay? We wrote the offer, the buyer signed it and it was submitted to the Seller.

I was not ready for the listing agents supply. NO WAY. I thought it was a joke. Nope, no joke, the sellers kids love the light too and it was coming with them. I relayed the news to my buyer. But i did my home work. I looked it up on Amazon and found the light. I told the buyer I would furnish them with a light. Mrs. Buyer cried again, she accepted the counter offer and told me "She loved me."

As in I would be her Realtor for life and she would tell everyone of my nice gesture.

Please know there is a difference from agent to agent.  That a Buyer or Seller should not choose just any agent, choose the BEST agent for the job. The key to this story is feelings to matter in real estate and need to be kept in mind in ones actions.

My philosophy is simple, provide more personal and profession service to guide my clients through each step of the buying and selling process. All agents are not created equal. That every buyer or seller should take time to hire the BEST not the biggest agent.

Thank you Barbara Todaro  , some people just have to feel like they are right. Even when they are wrong. The solution was simple and my buyer is very happy.

I do not think Mrs. Seller or the listing agent actually knew the value. They sell them in the box stores for more, so maybe they thought it was state of the art.  It is just as silly for seller sto fight over 3 mini blinds that cost $24 for all 3 to replace? but it happens. They must have felt the need to control some part of the sale as the offer was really good and pretty full proof Tim Maitski

It's funny...my husband was all "nail biter" about the Pat's game. I was like..."this is what they do...they are going to take the lead and win it like they always do." No doubt in my mind. LOL

It's the little things that can make a world of difference.  Good for you for making that light happen for the buyers.

Hi Scott,  There can be many simple triggers to loving a home but I've never heard of a glowing toilet.  Good story! Thanks for sharing.

It is amazing how the little things can make such a different.  Back in the 1980s, I actually had a red bidet helped sell a home.  And, it wasn't the lady buyer of the house that was so enamoured, it was her husband!

How crazy the sellers wouldn't leave it. From a buyer's standpoint, though, I wouldn't of even asked. I would prefer to start with a new one. I don't know where this thing is placed but I would imagine it covered with all kinds of germs. LOL

Hi Scott

Well that was pretty funny! A new one for the books I guess.  I saw a listing recently that stated that the master bath toilet did not covey and would be replace. I wanted to see THAT toilet!
