Housing Starts Rebound in April Good news! The Commerce Department recently reported that construction of new homes posted the biggest increase in more than two years in April. In addition, applications for building permits – considered a good sign of future activity – rose by 4.9 percent in April, the first gain in permits in five months. “It pays to ask” and it also pays to tell. Pick up the phone, talk to your clients and prospects and give them this encouraging news.

Lisa, an uptick in new housing permits is good - however, I'm waiting for a corresponding uptrick in the larger pool of existing homes sales.

Hi Brian,

We have been seeing it in our area.  Currently in Sacramento County (eliminating some of the outlying areas), we have only 1.81 months of inventory.  WOW!!  We are seeing multiple offers, and I mean 8 or 9 offers on one property.  It will be interesting to see what the next 12 months will bring.  There are so many determining factors; from politics to mortgage rates.  These certainly are exciting times.
