Zilker Botanical Gardens (ABG) is often referred to as “the jewel in the heart of Austin.” It’s located in Zilker Park just south of Town Lake and East of MoPac (LOOP 1). Zilker Botanical Garden is easy to reach from both MoPac and I-35.
This garden is a unique collaboration between The City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department (PARD) and the Austin Area Garden Council (AAGC). The garden is open to the public most days year-round and is enjoyed by over 100,000 visitors each year, including thousands of school children from Austin and the surrounding communities.
Theme gardens such as rose, herb and Japanese garden are interconnected with streams, waterfalls and Koi-filled ponds. The Hartman Prehistoric Garden recreates local dinosaur habitat. This weekend is Austin Dinosaur Day and there will be fun activities happening!
The Austin Area Garden Center was established in 1954 as a non-profit organization to support Zilker Botanical Gardens mission to promote the education and love of gardening among people of all ages.
We are so fortunate to be able to enjoy this spectacular sanctuary in Zilker Park right in the heart of Austin! There are so many wonderful events to take advantage of…… I can’t wait to go with Beautiful Beckett and her mom on February 18, 2018 to the Winter Faerie Tea Party overlooking the garden! Beckett will wear her fairy costume and practice some faerie etiquette! They will enjoy some nature-based activity and garden exploration as well as dining on fruit, miniature cakes, tea and juice.
