Westchester, the secret to an easy life if you are working in NYC.

I was talking to a prominent New York City broker the other night and we were talking about the market and pricing and comparisons.  We talked about how expensive it is in NYC right now and I mentioned that people could live an easier life by moving to Westchester County, especially with todays prices.  If you have children Westchester County is a terrific choice.

As a proud native of New York City and a Westchester resident for over 20 years the advantages to both are obvious to me.  The excitement and social life in NYC is amazing.   White Plains is about a half an hour from  Grand Central Station by train.  That isn't much further than the north end of Manhattan to Grand Central by subway.  We now have a terrific night life and some of the best shopping in the World, everything from Walmart to Fortunoff, Tiffany's to Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus to Sears.

The prices in Manhattan are on average over $1,000 a square ft.!!!

  IN WHITE PLAINS...

The co-op prices are just under $250 per sf.

The condo prices are on average under $560 per sf.

The single family homes average less than $360 per sf.

An average of about one third the price of Manhattan Real Estate!   The schools in White Plains and most of Westchester are better than most of the NYC schools.

Best of all you can live in a single family home, have a car and be in NYC in the evening in a short half hour train or car ride.  It's easy to park in NYC after 7:00 PM almost anywhere.

If you LOVE NY and can't afford it Westchester could be a great choice for you.

All the best!
