Who’s that person who makes all that noise just to get your attention, and you give them your full attention only to discover that it wasn’t important.

When we let ourselves get into the habit of going through the day oiling squeaky wheels, we’re choosing to be impotent.

We are unable to take effective action and we become helpless or powerless.

Victims of circumstance . . .

Above all, protect your commitment to paying attention to the things that matter – that are important.

Remember that another person’s “urgent” needs may not be important.

We combat this by maintaining defined boundaries around our times of FOCUS.

With enough FOCUS, we pick up the superhuman ability not to hear squeaky wheels . . . and our oil goes to the things that matter most.

Interestingly . . . when not heard . . . many squeaky wheels eventually find ways to oil themselves.
