Great facts and fun reading Emily. On point 15  with Billy the Kid being the most notorius name in New Mexico history, I might also offer up "Pancho Villa" and his invasion and burning of Columbus New Mexico in 1916. This resulted in the US sending 6,000 US troops to the border to protect from another invasion and also invaded Mexico in search of Pancho Villa. Their was a bloody civil war in Mexico and the US supported the rivals of revolutionary leader Pancho Villa resulting in his attack. I have been to the museums in Columbus New Mexico depicting and describing the events, very interesting. Jeff 😎

Thank you for this New Mexico and Mexican history information. I understood the US initially supported his efforts in Mexico and when the support was withdrawn, Pancho Villa attached Columbus, New Mexico. Today, the Pancho Villa State Park in Columbus, New Mexico is both a historical park with exhibit hall.

Hello Emily - thanks for enlightening me with this New Mexico trivia.   While I knew a few of these facts, it's always good to be learn a bit more.  I remember hearing someone telling another person that a US passport was not needed to visit NM.   Unfortunately, I am sure such information is far more common than we like to believe.

I knew some of those but certainly not all of them, haha.  I had no idea that there were more cows there than people.  When I last visited, I really enjoyed visiting the historic churches.

Interesting about the churches. Many of the older ones are in villages off of dirt roads where you might encounter cows and horses. Brian England let me know when you visit again.

No, Emily Medvec - I grew up in the state of NY, and when my youngest sister graduated college, my parents took off - first for the state of Hawaii, and then they moved to ABQ, then Belen, then ABQ again. They loved it there!
