Trump's Win... or "Win"?

Read Business news. “U.S. solar industry lost nearly 10,000 jobs in 2017” I immediately remembered recent interview with a lady, representing the solar industry in the United States. She was asked about tariffs against Chinese, and she was adamantly opposing the tariffs.

The interviewer thought that it was strange. In his view this measure would have helped US manufacturers, but the lady explained that basically all manufacturing is in China, and the measure would increase the price for solar panels, and effectively hurt the market, and punish US consumer.

She said that government did not understand what they are doing, and are playing politics.

I don’t think the government does not know what they are doing, they are not stupid. It is Mr. President, who is.

Well, it is not just that one trade group is get hurt. Solar energy is the future, and we are clearly shooting at the future. The world is moving in one direction and we are moving in the opposite direction? Are there still people besides our ill-informed President, who think that global warming is a reality?

In 20 years living in Daytona I have never seen that high level of water in the ocean, causing erosion of the beach. It has never been that I could not walk on the beach, because the water level is so high, it hits the seawall, leaving not a shred of the beach for walking.

We have wooden stakes beyond which cars can’t be park, because it is soft dunes past it, it is where sea turtles lay eggs, and other life flourishes… Well, there is no soft sand anymore. It is washed out, and there is hard sand only…

If this continues, next season Sea Turtles would not be able to lay eggs. They can’t climb the sea wall and lay eggs in concrete. It is an ecological disaster.

Go to the Keys, and you can see dying corals… How many more ecological disasters are coming?

So, how big is the victory for our President, fighting so hard for American workers?

Is it only 10,000 jobs?

P.S. There is a saying that every country deserves its government. Do we really deserve this shameful President? What is wrong with us? Can't we tell BS from reality?

Sadly, our Potus cannot see the big picture because he thinks HE IS THE BIG PICTURE!

Jon, I really believe the alternative candidate would have finished off our democracy.

Mike Frazier - I have never seen more erosion to democracy that is happening now. This is just one example of too many where he clearly shows that he is incapable to grasp the meaning of things in the big picture, and I agree with Bill Dean 314 575 6924 : Trump is the only big picture. Hasn't seen a person more shallow

Jon,  I'm not a beach expert but aren't beaches always in flux and changing?  NOAA says that sea levels have risen 2.6 inches in the past 20 years.  I wouldn't think that would make such a huge difference.  Maybe we shouldn't be disturbing the sensitive beach environment by building so close to it.  Let the beaches be natural and find their own level over time.  The problem develops when we try to put permanent structures where the land is always changing.

Why do you think China can make solar panels so much cheaper?  Most likely because of super low wages and much less environmental regulations.   So if people want to rail about living wages and saving the environment, they need to think twice about buying their cheap products made in other countries like China.  The earth is small so you can't outsource pollution to another country and think that it won't come back around.  Why isn't the health of Chinese people as important as the health of Americans?

Tim Maitski - We have not seen it this way since we came to Florida in 1996, and to Daytona in 1999. Seems like this is something new. The reef in the Keys is dying. According to scientists, only 11% is left.

Well, I can say that last 3 winters (not counting this one) were very different from the winters before. But even this 'cold" winter is not even close to winters of 2006-2009.

As for the panels, while I can agree on low wages, I do not see why you mention environmental regulation. If we were buying panels, they were conforming to our standards. If you mean they do not care about the environment in their production, I think the majority of countries do the same. I worked as a worker in industrial enterprises back in Russia and I can't believe how environmentally careless they all are, even when there is all regulation. There are ways to bypass these regulations.

China is not beating us because they are efficient. They are not. A friend of mine works with China a lot, and he says that corruption and bureaucracy there is the same if not more than in the Soviet Union.

My point, however, is that Trump does things for political expediency, not for any practical purpose. If he can do something that TV would be talking about it, and Hannity would praise him for it, he would do it.

He has no clue that these things can be detrimental. Like his some foreign policy decisions. He is simply incapable.

Take his decision on the embassy in Israel. I believe Venezuela is the only country that sided with the US. And you do not see as foreign policy failure? Not a single European country sided with the US... Russians are laughing at us, and very rightly so. They now choose our Presidents and working on making American politicians act like Russian politicians.

We distrust the government more and more, and now we distrust FBI, and next will be the judiciary.

I see how you distrust, and tell me you are affected by Russian propaganda... and I am sure you think you are not :)
