In the mindset of the Olympians, “mindset and preparations start long before the actual competition.” But there is an old Chinese proverb: There are many paths to the top of the mountain, but the view is always the same.”
If the power to succeed is to stay focused, then why aren't more people successful, and if success is achieved why doesn’t it last forever? Is there a myth about focus that many don’t know? There is an old book called “The Seven Story Mountain, by Thomas Merton. In it, the author wrote: “Success – the logic of worldly success rests on a fallacy: the strange error that our perfection depends on the thought and opinion and applause of other men.”
As the world stands by for the Olympics, many athletes try, but there is still only one gold metal winner in each category. Every athlete trains to get to the top of their game and their strength and courage is admirable; however, not everyone achieves success, that well-traveled plan to reach the summit and stand on the top of that mountain with the gold, silver, or bronze shining brightly around their necks.
In preparation of the selling season I am getting systems up and running. How I began started last October in Montana. I focused on the mountains in the distance under forest fires burning looking at dark clouds on the shores of glacier waters. Nothing lasts forever, I said to myself. It was then, I began to look back at past year's productivity and discovered I wasn’t perfect. Acknowledgment is the first step to creating a plan. Something I failed to do, was to get systems up and running for my benefit, not the franchise where I was previously attached. While it is true, the Franchise continues to explode with success, it didn’t pave the way to wealth for me.
What I learned is that it doesn’t matter how many years you have been in the business, if you haven’t achieved excellent or you can’t retire today on the wealth you achieved, then you still have a lot of work to do. I have my work cut out for me. That is why I am in training once more, writing better blog posts, working on my CRS and taking educational classes. I'm more focused on being better and staying focused on me, not what others are doing, which Broker is bigger, better, and boss because I am my own boss and I can't allow my future to burn up and disappear without trying to focus on my own personal best.
