It was late last autumn while cleaning out my closets, that I made a conscious decision, to tell my kids that I wished for no durable goods for Christmas. Only consumable goods that take up either no space, or temporary space, I begged.
Near the top of my wish list was a ticket to St. Mel’s Crab Feed, which occurs each year at this time. It is one of my favorite events of the year.
My daughter Jill, who belongs to the St. Mel’s parish, gladly complied. And, last evening 16 members of our party occupied a long table at the event! They included family, and friends.
A Mardi Gras theme was provided, with a great New Orleans style live band and dancing. There were several bottles of wine which graced our table, but one really stood out which I favored most. It was the 2013 Hess Treo, an inexpensive wine at less than $20.00. While white wine is usually preferred with fish and sea food, there was also a wonderful Italian Rigatoni with an amazing sauce that paired perfectly with this wine.
