Are you eating Paczki today for Fat Tuesday?

Sally K. & David L. Hanson posted a blog on Fat Tuesday traditions in Wisconsin. Are You Ready for FAT Tuesday ? Mmmmm They explained that there is a race to local bakeries to purchase Paczki (Polish Doughnuts) on Fat Tuesday.

Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday. It is also known as Mardi Gras Day or Shrove Day. It is a day when people eat all they want of everything and anything they want as the following day is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of a long fasting period for Christians.

This is the recipe I found handwritten in my Polish grandmothers cookbook. I have since found ones almost identical in Polish cuisine cookbooks.
