So You Think Property is For Sale but it's Not - Part 2

Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

In a recent post So You Think Property is For Sale but it's Not many agents from throughout the United States shared the same concerns. To the consumers, here's my best shot at providing an explanation as to why you contact  your own Local Real Estate Agent for the correct information.

First, I want to convey to you, agents need other licensed agents. We work together as a team with other agents, the Title Company, Lenders, Attorneys too! We depend on reputable resources. We are licensed by our state; some agents are licensed in multiple states. We have rules and regulations we must follow to keep our license. We follow a Code of Ethics. Syndicated websites are just sources of information, and though useful, there is no guarantee they are accurate, true, or false. Syndicated websites are not operated by a Broker or licensed Real Estate Agents.

Second, imagine coming down with a serious illness. Now I use that analogy because buying a home or an investment property is very serious business. A patient who is in dire need of medical care, a condition that can potentially have life changing consequences will go to the best doctor they can. The individual doesn't want to be ripped off. They don't want to be taken advantage of. They want the truth. A quack is not an option! They want advise from reputable professionals in their field of business.

A professional, whether it is in the medical field or a licensed Real Estate Agent or Broker doesn't pretend, professionally or publicly to possess the skills, knowledge or qualifications they don't possess. And when something is obsolete or no longer applicable, a professional can't advertise false information. Unfortunately for all of us, syndication is simply a resource, a way of life, and syndicated sites don't follow a license act created for a professional in the real estate industry. Although interesting, useful, and helpful, it may not be true. When it comes to Real Estate, call a professional, listen to the truth because you deserve nothing but the truth.

Patricia,

I applaud you for writing this post!  And what you are explaining is important for the public to know and understand.  Unfortunately, we are dealing in a world that is looking for instant gratification, instant information, and very few are willing to research.  A

Thanks for writing! Just today, a friend told me about someone who was going to sell their home on their own without a Realtor. The home seller said, "The house will sell itself" Ha! I thought, good luck with all the details:)

Well said Patricia Feager! Buying and selling a home isn't anything like having a garage sale, they need professionals to navigate.

Hi Patricia Feager - People get what they pay for, and the midical analogy really makes a point. We owe it to our client to be truthful and only work in their best interest.

Beth Atalay - We are trained to navigate, not just throw somebody elses information out there to the wind or into cyberspace. Actually, isn't it ironic that we can not plagiarized or steal other people's content but syndication does it all the time and they aren't even licensed?

Patricia all to often Buyers and Sellers look for the cheapest Real Estate Agent around, and end up with a terminal deal.

Patricia, amen to your post! Wonderfully written and your analogy does a great job of putting things into perspective. I'll never understand why when it comes to one of life's biggest investments the choice typically revolves around finding the cheapest representation or even no representation.
