BUSINESS
I think Monday was 10 days ago...not just 5! So much was packed into this week that I barely remember Monday!
Despite it being a holiday and my dreams of no-lender-or-attorney-call--day-of-bliss, the day was insane from the minute I woke up! I had one buyers' Due Diligence Period ending at 5PM and we still hadn't come to a resolution on a 'hidden' issue. The back and forth ultimately resulted in resolution by 4PM...right down to the wire. This is something that I never allow to happen but, we were doing everything we could to impress upon the sellers, the importance of the non-disclosure issue and we finally succeeded.
The week prior, I had noticed a bright, flashing light in my left eye - nothing seemed to precipitate the 'strange' flashes of light, they just randomly occurred. There was no pain - just bright flashes of light. Then, I noticed that I had a round floater in that same eye - again, only randomly and not always accompanied by the flashes of light. By the weekend, one of my friends who is a physician encouraged me to seek a retinal specialist on Monday...and not to wait, "I don't want to scare you, but, it could be a retinal detachment and you need to see a specialist right away." Monday morning, I phoned and was scheduled with the specialist later that day. In the meantime, I had an inspection to attend and a house to show. So, I met the inspector, left him to get started, showed the house to the buyer and then headed to the doctor.
Thankfully, I only have 'old eyes' and the aqueous solution had 'spilled' out, allowing the light to enter, appearing to be a bright, flashing light. This should resolve itself within a month and I've already noticed that the light flashing has stopped and the floater is far less frequent. I have to say, it was driving me a bit mad - I kept thinking that someone was walking in front of me when I would see the 'blob' floating past that eye!
I returned to the inspection to catch the end of it. The inspection went well but, I did struggle a bit after having my eyes dilated, trying to measure two rooms for my out-of-town buyer! While the inspector wrapped up the inspection, I finished measuring. The inspector & I Face-Timed the inspection results with the buyer and I was back home by 6PM - long holiday but, I ended it, feeling like I got a LOT accomplished!
The rest of the week were attorney & lender catch-up days and a Closing with one of my favorite clients I think I've ever had. A young couple who found out they were expecting their first child while searching for a new home. They have been an absolute delight to work with on their purchase and will be Closing on the sale of the sale of their current home next week.
One incident with a buyer, I will reserve writing about until next week, consumed a large majority of the remaining time in my week. Ultimately, the buyers wound up Closing on a really 'cool' house and they will live happily ever after! I anxiously await a visit to see what they do to their fabulous new home!
A new buyer, referred to me last week, came into town this week and have been exploring the city and we think they have found their 'forever' home. We'll likely be presenting an Offer tomorrow on the property.
Two fabulous properties hit the market today and the feedback has been great so far. Stay tuned for two pendings very soon! It's been a wonderful week in real estate!
PERSONAL
Yesterday my husband celebrated his 50th and it was a day chock full of 'celebrating' for him - visitors, gifts and in between, working on another 5PM Due Diligence deadline that was ultimately moved to next week so that the sellers could get one final contractor bid before responding to us. Ray's brother, sister & her husband and I took Ray out for dinner at one of his favorite steak houses. As it happened, the steakhouse is in a live/work complex that one of my listings is in and it just went 'live' today!
For the first time, I thought I'd take friends' recommendations and order a Nothing Bundt Cakes red velvet birthday cake for Ray. Oh my gosh, it was THE best cake any of us had ever had - I highly recommend this bakery. The service was 5-star, delivery was on-time and the product, AMAZING! I will be using them for more events, without a doubt!
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Okay, this is not much of a thought but, rather, something to make you smile! I love this video! Such a tenacious puppy and an ever-so patient cat...
Have a great week ahead everyone!
