Today I want to give a big shout-out for Keyhole Security in Wenatchee, Washington. Keyhole does pretty much anything having to do with locks, keys and home and business security systems.
I have gone to Keyhole Security for many years, mostly to have various keys made. I've always been pleased with their fast friendly service. Last week I found a new reason to love this business.
Earlier this month I purchased a used Toyota Sienna van from my neighbors. The neighbors lost the spare set of keys so I only received one set of keys. Turns out the key-less remote locking and unlocking FOB did not work on the set I received. This wasn't a crisis but somewhat inconvenient.
When I went to the Toyota dealership to have the van serviced and checked out I asked them to check out the FOB to see what is wrong with it. When I went back to pick up the van, the service rep said the FOB was worn out. The price of a new one is $150. I told him I'd just use the key for now.
Since I don't feel comfortable with only one set of keys, last week I went into Keyhole Security to get another key made for the van. I also asked about getting a new FOB from them. They quoted me a price of $125 and said they could have it in a few days. I decided to go ahead and order it. When I went in to pick up the new FOB and get it programmed for my van, the service tech checked out the old FOB and said it just needed to be cleaned. I now have two sets of keys and two working FOBs.
And that, my friends, is just one more reason to love Keyhole Security in Wenatchee, Washington.
Check out their website for more information or, better yet, go see them for all your lock, key and security needs.
Hi James Dray ,
I could have gotten by with 2 sets of keys and one FOB but I'm spoiled (and lazy) so I went for the full set. LOL
Good morning Wayne Martin ,
Yes, they do and I'm happy to share my experience with them. Love having them as a local resource.
Hi Grant Schneider ,
It is so nice having them as a local resource for all my key and security needs.
Good for you and thank goodness for Keyhole Security. I kept buying batteries for my FOB but it still didn't work properly. When I went to the dealership, they told me my FOB was worn out and I'd need a new one, too. I don't recall the cost but it seemed extravagant at the time. The last battery must have done the trick because it works perfectly now. Isn't that odd?

Hi Pat Starnes, Brandon, MS . Glad you solved the problem without having to buy a new FOB. They ARE expensive.

How wonderful to have a local business to compliment for their customer service. We can all do more of this. The FOB pricing sounds very reasonable too. D
Good for you, I wonder about dealerships some time and I had that happen a while back also.
Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD ,
We all should give such businesses the kudos they deserve. It helps to know they are appreciated.
Hi Will Hamm ,
In general, I am happy with the dealerships for both my cars but this was a time when the Keyhole center knew more than the dealership.
I learned several years ago that service through auto dealerships can be considerably more expensive than elsewhere. A few years ago, I needed a new timing belt for my Toyota Camry. I phoned the dealership to get an estimate of cost. They wanted almost $900.00. However, JiffyLube installed a new one for just $600.00. Quite the savings!
There you go - another great example of exceptional customer service. What a great guy and business! I too need to get another key but I for some reason didn't think of my locksmith guy and knew it would be pricey at the dealership. Thank you for the tip!

Carol a business that provides good honest service is hard to find, and when we find it we need to let others know about them.
Hi Anna Banana Kruchten CRS,CRB ,
Hope your locksmith guy can help you. Will probably be less expensive than the dealership.
Batteries in those key FOBs do wear out. Maybe all it needed was a battery. I changed the one in my last vehicle twice during my 10 year ownership.

Hi Debbie Reynolds , I was pleased to learn all it needed was to be cleaned. That's an inexpensive fix.
That's true Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS, . A stitch in time saves nine... or something like that. LOL
