Daffodils are Out in Carlsbad - Spring Must be Near

Winter daffodils in Carlsbad

We took one of our regular walks around the neighborhood this evening and were pleased to see these daffodils in our neighbor's yard.

It's been quite chilly, at least for us...jeez, we even had to wear our fleece jackets...and that coupled with the daffodils, which we don't see all that often, reminded me of spring just a few weeks away. Of course in our area we get all sorts of flowers at different times of the year, unlike what I was used to in Boston. The daffodils have always been a favorite memory, and anticipation of the coming spring.

Such happy flowers, Jeff. Last week daffodils, hyacinths were  popping out all over Charlotte as we had temperatures in the mid-70's. And the Bradford Pear trees have gone crazy with blooms. The city is awash in pink and white.

It seems as if the Daffodils are always the first flowers to pop their heads out around here and with a couple weeks near the 80's we have plenty of then in bloom.

Jeff Dowler - Daffodils are such an attraction getter! It surely must mean spring is coming to southern, California! Midwesterners and Northerners who love daffodils should consider relocating to your area where the California sun will really make them realize, winter is always shorter in your area. Anyone thinking about relocation should definitely contact you!

Hi Endre Barath, Jr.  - daffodils have always been a favorite since living back east. I remember Daffodil Days on the Cape, with thousands and thousands of them blooming and all sorts of festivities!

Had me chuckling at the "fleece jacket" need paired with chilly weather, Jeff Dowler.  To a Chicago-area boy, that sounds pretty darn good right about now.  I'm hoping that we're not too far behind you and your Daffodils though.  Looking forward to seeing those signs of Spring here too ...

Thanks for sharing this bit of sunshine,

Gene

Sally K. & David L. Hanson  - we should not complain here about the cold...it does not compare to so much else in the country. I will share our temps if you share your precipitation (not the snow, but in the form of rain! LOL).

Thanks Gita Bantwal They are a favorite of mine!

Joyce Marsh, Daytona Beach Florida  - Oh, I miss the azaleas we had back in New England. I suppose we can find them inland in the mountains but it's been a while since I was able to enjoy them. They were a favorite in our yard in Boston!
