Every year for the past five or six years, I have been putting together an annual plan for my goals in the coming year. I usually complete it in December so it's in place on January 1st. My plan always includes several outcomes with multiple key items. My goals always include 3-5 "whys" that give real incentive to striving to reach those goals. And what goal would be worth anything if it didn't also include an action plan along with a time table with action steps along the way to be sure those goals are attainable? My busy season starts in March and goes through September. An average month in the summer is 50-60 full home inspections and maybe 4-6 mold sampling tests.
My goals this year are numbered at 17 but I will only go over my top 5.
1. I will be able to complete 500 full home home inspections again, which would be about the same total as 2017.
2. Increase the average home inspection fee $15 per inspection to $385. This total of inspections and another 30 mold testing inspections will push sales revenue above $200,000 for the year.
3. Visit 10 Realtor open houses every month. The goal is a total of 100 open house visits for the year. The open house visits I have found are the best time to meet new agents, visit with my regular referring agents and have a few minutes to talk without numerous interruptions. I always bring some snacks and water in case they haven't had a chance to eat as well as brochures, notepads, and scratch off discount cards.
4. Personal goals are also important, and this year I have decided to take a week off and go on a vacation with my wife, since we haven't had a really nice full week vacation for over 10 years. She is searching for some spots she would love to visit.
