When was the last time you received a notice that one of the services you subscribe to has reduced their fees?

My guess is never.  Well, this actually happened to me when I opened my mail yesterday.

Last Fall I signed my neighbors up for Mobile Meals and told them to send me the statements.   The suggested donation was $5.00 per meal but there is never a requirement to pay.  The meals are provided regardless of ability to pay.

So, anyway, I have been paying the "suggested donation" (or a little more) for several months.  Yesterday, I received a notice that the suggested donation has been reduced by 50¢.   Here is the content of the letter I received:

Mobile Meals Recipient:
Mobile Meals of Wenatchee has been serving residents in our valley since 1971.  Since 1974, Mobile Meals has teamed with Central Washington Hospital (now Confluence Health) to deliver hot, nourishing meals to residents that can't prepare their own meals.  We also rely on well over 140 volunteers to deliver these meals, operate fund raisers,e and apply for grants to ensure that this valuable service continues over the long term.

The meals we deliver are purchased from and prepared by Confluence Health hospital staff in their kitchen.  Next, our coordinator serves the food into the containers that are then delivered by volunteer drivers to your doorstep.

Each year Confluence Health conducts a review of the cost of the foods served by Mobile Meals.  Recently, Confluence Health informed us that there would not be an increase in the food cost for 2018.  The Mobile Meals board also reviewed the financial status of Mobile Meals and determined that a price reduction of fifty cents per meal was possible.

Your new payment rate with the 50-cent per meal reduction will be effective March 1.  If you have any questions regarding this please call the Mobile Meals office.

The Mobile Meals Board and staff are very excited about this development are happy to provide "a hot meal with a smiling face to your door" as a way to give back to our community.  We truly appreciate Confluence Health for their generosity in our mission.

After reading this letter, I got to thinking perhaps we should elect these people to run our government!  Wouldn't it be a welcome reprieve to have some politicians that are responsible with our dollars and not raising prices (taxes) at every turn?  Just a thought!

Thank you Mobile Meals of Wenatchee.  You rock!

HI Carol Williams - I used to voluteer for Sedona's version called "Meals on Wheels".  This is a wonderful program helping those who can benefit from it. It is nice to see a drop in price in your area! In a 30 day period that is a drop of $15.

Hi Sheri Sperry - MCNE®
The portions are so generous, my neighbors have requested their deliveries be reduced to twice a week.  Such a great program.
