Reblogs Can Help You and the Original Author

RebloggingDo you know what a reblog is? It is sharing a post that another member that was written and posted on another members blog. You do this by using the reblog feature button that is under the written post. The ActiveRain network allows you to this if the member has not blocked that feature. The writer will get attribution for the post and their own byline.

Should I reblog another members post? Ask yourself if you want your readers to read the information? Is it well written and conveys a good point? Do you believe the content to be original and not copied and pasted? Do you mind posting something that is not your original? If you answer yes to these questions then reblogging may be something you want to incorporate into your blogging strategy.

When you click on the reblog a new window appears allowing you to write an introduction to the post or make comments. You don't have to take advantage of this feature but I think it is a nice thing to do. When you hit the publish button, you will see the post appear in your blog showing the original title of the writer.

If your reblog setting is activated and you are a Rainmaker and the post is for Public viewing, your posts may be reblogged. Rainer status members cannot be reblogged because their post are Members Only.

Why would someone want to reblog a post? There is lots of good content on ActiveRain. By reblogging the post, you are helping this post recirculate. The author gets 25 points and you also get 25 points for reblogging. Your followers make be glad you shared it as they may not follow the original author and may have missed the original posting.

There are several members that regularly reblog. They set the reblogs to post through the ActiveRain scheduler or do them immediately. Either way will work.

There are others that won't do a reblog under any circumstances or very rarely. They only want their own posts on their blog. This is a personal choice and it is fine to not be a reblogger.

If you reblog, most of the time the author will be appreciative of you for reblogging and the fact that you thought their post was worthy to post on your blog.

Re-blogging a good post can be an excellent way to add to your own blog and of course honor the original author.

I find it interesting to repost another blog, there is so much information given here, home inspectors, mortgage providers that is applicable wherever you are. Also helps others who follow you to maybe meet someone they don't know as well.

Debbie some folks remember to reblog quite often, others like me, forget. It clearly has a lot of benefit to reblog other posts that we think are great. And it's not because of points!

I reblog from time to time but I feel most comfortable doing it with a blogger that I know and trust. I'm always concerned about the photos a blogger may have chosen because it may or may not be available to everyone for commercial use. I have heard of others getting in trouble with this sort of thing in the past.

I honestly haven’t reblogged but not for any reason. I do however appreciate people that do reblog because not only might I have missed it otherwise but also because I enjoy their comments and opinions about the pending content.

I have gained some good information because someone reblogged a post I had not seen when originally posted. That is a great benefit.

I have reblogged and I choose carefully the ones I choose. I want the post to reflect well for me as well as for the poster.

Thanks for sharing Debbie Reynolds

Good morning Debbie Reynolds ,

Thank you for writing this post on re-blogging! Glad to see it featured. I often miss a post and am thrilled to find one of interest when someone re-blogs. I need to get in the habit of re-blogging. I forget and need to do better. The one thing I've never understood is re-blogging a post the minute someone publishes a post. I think the original author should have time to get it out there before re-blogging. What are your thoughts on that?

I get confused when I read a reblog.  Sometimes it's not clear who actually wrote it.  I prefer to write a post about my thoughts on the article and then encourage readers to click on the link to read it.  Maybe quote a few snippets to give people a taste of the post.

Thanks Debbie, I never even considered reblogging. Sometimes my thoughts on the topic that I respond with lead me to considering my comment as a new blog. I may do this in the future if I'm impressed by the original blog.
