Just curious.  I've been on here for a few months and have  decent blog going.  I try to comment on other's post but I have never gotten a lead from AR.  Just curious if I'm doing something wrong or if maybe this is not the right place for leads.  I don't mind if it isn't because I've had fun meeting other appraisers but I was just curious.

Dawn,  Have you tried searching ActiveRain for loan officers and realtors in your area and trying to start networking with them.  Those are the people who be able to start referring you business.  Do you have a unique selling proposition that will set you apart from another appraiser?

Leads are like seeds you have to plant them well in the best most  rich  soil and tend them carefully.

And stand back adn watch them grow

Dawn~ I would visit the blogs written by  realtors and mortgage people in your area that you serve, read the blogs of interest and comment sincerely on them, maybe they will remember you and then refer to you.

Hi Dawn,

I've received 12 leads and made great new friends to network with from Active Rain and Trulia. Just be yourself, do your thing and when you least expect it, someone will call, email or walk into your office with a computer print out from your web page looking to get more information on how to do something, buy something, find something, blindly and confidently expecting you to service their business needs because they have grown comfortable with their concept of you through your writings. Keep the faith. There are millions of people "meeting" you you haven't met yet. It only takes one or two to make your day. For example, one woman I could not help sent me five of her friends because I was honest with her. I currently represent three of them. Never saw it coming but am very glad I joined both forums. It's a lovely plus side to social networking. Just keep writing and enjoy sharing your opinions and your day. Regards, C.

Thank you to you all for commenting on this post.  I'm hopeful that maybe I'll get a lead or two here.  Either way.... I'm happy blogging! Dawn

I have had a few referrals from other Appraisers or Realtors from Active Rain, however the bulk of the business that has come my way via Active Rain is from Homeowners and Attorneys who found relevent (to them) blog posts indexed by Google for content.

Dawn even if you do not get direct business from active rain, I think you might be able to meet loan offers here though from your area.  At least you are contributing to your overall web authority and might get you found more easily in the search engines.

I have not really gotten anything yet. I believe it will come and come very big.

I have a disadvantage that Missouri is not as active as other states on Active Rain. I just started following some locals and commenting on their posts. I follow their blogs and know what they write. Persistance will be the key here.

I have noticed bump in my google website ratings, however not as much as I thought.
