Serendipity comes in many shapes and sizes. In this case it was over coffee with a fellow agent. Since the agent knew that I do a lot of work in Kenwood Forest, a townhouse condo community in Chevy Chase MD 20815 he asked if I knew of any porperties coming on the market. I said that I might but it depended on what he was looking for. He explained that he was working with someone who needed to buy a couple of properties before the end of their fiscal year.
I told him I would make a few phone calls and get back to him. As soon as coffee was done, I called the owner of a townhome at 4926 Bradley Blvd in Kenwood Forest and asked if she was still interested in selling.
She was in fact not only interested but ready to sell! She was just waiting for the new flooring to be installed upstairs that we had talked about. She agreed to let the agent and his clients come to see the house that weekend.
It was a match made in heaven and the deal was agreed to quickly at the price we had discussed earlier. Within five days the inspection was done and we were confirming a closing time for three weeks hence.
Now the fun was about to start! The seller had to find an apartment and start packing! It was a whirlwind but she did it! At the end of the three weeks, she was in her new home with a substantial contribution to her retirement accound! She was no longer within walking distance to the Walter Reed Medical Center, as she had been at Kenwood Forest, but she still could walk to the same Bethesda Metro that she has been walking to from Kenwood Forest.
She was very happy and Kenwood Forest gained yet another wonderful neighbor!
