It is being reported on ESPN and other sports news channels that the rematch of Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is almost finalized (some outlets are reporting that it is a done deal)! De La Hoya expressed interest in a rematch with Mayweather prior to his retirement. The talk regarding the De La Hoya versus Cotto potential match up was apparently just that, talk. It is rumored that this talk is what spurred the interest of Mayweather in a rematch of their first meeting. That first meeting om May 5, 2007 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas say Mayweather win in a split decision in twelve rounds. Generating about $120 million in revenue, the match up was also a windfall monetarily for all the parties involved. In their first meeting, tickets sold out in three hours! This rematch is expected to see De La Hoya vs Mayweather tickets sell out just as quickly! It can be argued with validity that De La Hoya is on the downside of his career and Mayweather is at the pinnacle of his career. This being said, what type of match up will this turn out to be? If you give that workouts and training will be equally demanding and rigorous for both fighters, then the question of youth aided endurance will definitely come into play. In my opinion, De La Hoya is quite overmatched by the younger Mayweather. Of course the buildup and excitement of the event will be settled on September 20, 2008!

Rich, Sounds good to me. De la Hoya needs a knock out. I have seen him robbed to many times.
