Can I bring my son and his friends to see the home?

By

Give her credit for asking, but I picked up on the word "Friends". It was her day to host the neighborhood kids on vacation week and there was a new listing she wanted to see. Of course we went to see the home. Of course the seller was home when we got there. Of course there was 3 other boys with her and her son.

This house had a play room full of toys and the boys did not miss a beat to jump in and start taking them out. I looked left, right, up and down. Mrs. Buyer was off and running to see the home. As luck would have it. Mrs. Seller whistles to stop the mayhem. As i readied her to throw us all out, she announces all the boys to the table for some fresh chocolate chip cookies.

I caught up with Mrs. Buyer. She loved the home. She was in tears, embarrassed for the kids, happy to find a beautiful home and really happy such a patient seller.

When I listed the home, Mrs. Seller did say she is home most days and usually would go for a walk. But so much snow, she stayed home and good thing for all of us. Mrs. Seller actually thanked me for keeping the buyer calm and said boys will be boys. We all sat and talked about the home. The boys loved it too.

My philosophy is simple, provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the buying or selling process. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest. Those that hire me, find a dedication like no other.

This could have turned into a negative situation for sure, especially when the Buyer is not controlling the children.  So glad it turned out so well!

It's not always a bad thing that the seller is home.  Thank goodness she was that day to entice the boys with cookies.

How great that the seller was understanding of the situation and stayed calm and collected. Plus she had cookies.

Hi Scott Godzyk - The only time I had something similar happen was during an inspection when the buyer brought family and friends to the inspection.  A  2.5 hour inspection turned into 6 hours.   I was not a happy camper!

While I prefer sellers be absent during showings, I have had similar situations when they have been present and it has provided delightful outcomes.

Mrs Seller sounds like exactly what my Mom would have done in this situation. Nothing like cookies to calm the boys down at least for awhile so Mom and you could look at the home! Smart lady!
