There are lessons we learn along the way in life and in the real estate business. Here are some of the lessons I have learned and found to be true.
- You to decide to take a much needed vacation and a day to two before you are to leave, all kinds of business will present itself.
- Never judge a prospect by the way they dress or the car they drive. The shabbiest looking client, could be one of your wealthiest and best clients.
- The day you think you have a light work schedule generally turns into a very busy day.
- You will work harder on most $40,000 sales than you will on a $500,000 sale.
- Never say never. That never may come sooner than you think.
- The first listing agent that loses the listing has laid the groundwork for the second listing agent to sell the property in a very short period of time.
- The listing agent will get more calls about the grass being tall or cars parked where they shouldn't be, than the occupants or owner receive.
- Appraisers do not like being told they are wrong or made a mistake. It is much better to get them to see the truth before they put it in their report. Getting theme to change the report is like moving concrete.
- You show and show a client and then they tell you they think they just want to rent awhile longer.
- It is harder to get permanent buyer financing for a $50,000 home than on a $200,000 home.
- Any time you are running late for an appointment, the chances of coming across a traffic accident or extra heavy traffic are increased.
- If things go wrong during the sale, the real estate agent is sure to get the blame.
- You finally get a contract on that listing that has been on the market for so long. Within hours one or more calls come in telling you they are ready to write an offer on the same property. Where were they 2 days ago?
- The buyer you think will be hard to work with ends up being one of your most pleasant clients.
- The client or friend that you thought was going to be easy to work with gives you nothing but a hard time and heartache.
