I have always joked that if my Husband, Mike, left me I would be devastated, but if my assistant Maria left me I would be a mess.  Mike is staying and Maria is leaving me.  I am heart broken.  She is my right hand in everything that I do.  She makes my office and business run like a well oiled machine.  My Maria, that is what I call her.  I not only enjoy working with her, I just love her as a person as well.

On top of being dependable, smart and the cutest thing you have ever known she is in love.  She is going to move to Florida with her boyfriend at the end of July.  I just have to accept and understand these things.  We will start to look for her replacement soon and Maria will help train her replacement.

I just don't know if you can train someone to have heart?  Maria has a huge heart and that is part of why it will be so difficult for me to let her go.  I understand she needs to grow and explore new things, but I think they should be right here in Montgomery County Maryland, not Daytona Beach Florida.

I can truely say that Maria's help and support has helped me keep my business steady and on an even keel even during this market.  She does all of my marketing, keeping my name out in front of the masses so I may dedicate my time to caring for my clients.

She is so wonderful, whenever I am on my way out the door, she has all the forms and information I need right on my desk ready for me to grab and go.  She is the best.

If you have never had an assistant, I will take this time to tell you they will make you more productive and usually more than pay for themselves.  You should explore the possibilities of hiring someone.

The next thing I will say is if you are an agent in the Daytona/ Ormond Beach area of Florida and are considering an assistant , or know someone who needs an assistnat, I have one to hand over on a Golden Platter, Maria Carpenter.  I am really sad to see her go.

Sometimes the greatest blessings in life are here for the shortest time.  What a great person you must be to speak so fondly of her.  She must be a wonderful person...wish her all the best in life.  She must be one incredible assistant!

Wow- I hope she gets to read your post. Hang in there- maybe you will find a new assistant who will/can fill the very large shoes she is leaving behind. I wish you and her all the best- you never know they might get down to Florida and decide to come back! Good luck!!

Jim, Such true words, when good things are gone it makes us appreciate them even more.  She is very wonderful.  Even the other agents in my office have grown to love her.

Rob, I hope I am sure I will find another assistant, they will have big shoes to fill.  I hope I will be fair to the next person because of my expectation level?  I have been very lucky for the last 3 years.

Joe, I am sad to see Maria go.  Happy for her future, but you are right, smartest thing we can do is have an assistant.

Look on the bright side, there is still a chance the Relationship does not work out HAHA!!!!  At the very least you have an excuse to go to Florida and visit when the weather turns cold.

Hopefully she will get a great job offer as a result of your post, and you will find a fantastic replacement.  It's not very often someone gets a glowing review like that one.  Best of luck to you both!

Well, Peter, that certainly is true.  You made me LOL!! Then I would be a real mess.

Chad, I could never say that, she would just cry.  They have been apart for about 6 months now and they can't stand it.  True, I will have somewhere in Florida to go.

Kris, I hope some of the AR members in Florida see my post!!  Maybe I should find the Daytona group?  Thanks for stopping by!

Audrey, I'm glad that I could make you laugh in light of such circumstances. There's another positive here, Maria could become your new Florida contact for referrels.

Audrey, what a beautiful ThemThem to Maria. I'm sorry for your loss, but am amazed at your admiration of someone who has been so good to you. Good Great people such as Maria are hard to see go, but everything happens for a reason, it just may be tough to see the reason at this point.

Joan, I am so sad, but happy she is excited about her new adventure.

Peter, Maria and I are laughing at your comments.  I am going to see if I can put this post in a Daytona area group to see if anyone would be interested in talking to her?  I am telling you, she is the best.  My whole office just love her.

Audrey,

Having lost my nanny in February I know how you feel.  It's like losing family.  But she read my post here on Active Rain and guess what, she might be coming back to us in the summer.  Things change, but sometimes things do change for the better.  Either way, I know you will be o.k.

Audrey I just saw this....how sad that she is leaving.  Sad for you not her :)   Been there done that and still don't have my "maria' back yet after several years.....I keep hiring but it's hard to replace someone that is that efficient and learns your personality so well that they are an intrical part of your team.

Rebecca, I remember reading your post about your nanny.  Maria is like my kid, growing up and leaving the nest. . .  I will miss her.

Lynn, She finishes my sentences for me and already has my "stuff" ready for me as I am walking out the door?  Thanks for stopping by.

Kathy, I am sad for me too :).  I thought if one of the Daytona agents needs an assistant, she would be perfect.  I am afraid I will be like you and have a struggle to find the next "Maria".  Maria is so funny because she is out in force seeing if any of her friends with licenses would be interested in coming to work for me so she can train them.  I think she has already lined a few up?  See what I mean?

Melody, she is the best, I hope I can find someone even close to Maria - it wont be fair to the other person to have such big shoes to fill.

Clint, It is so true.  I know that I can leave something to Maria and it is handled exactly how I would want it done!

Maria, you made me cry!  I will miss you!  XO

Vickie, that Peter is a funny guy.  When I read that I just laughed, not that it couldn't happen, but how the post sounds when I read it later.  I feel sorry for her replacement, not really.

Audrey - It's heck losing a great assistant, isn't it?  It's hard enough to get them trained for them to train me, that I would be lost for certian if ours left.  Hopfully you'll be blessed enough to find another great right arm!

Hey, I wasn't trying to be funny :-) but just one look at Maria's picture and the first two lines of your blog, and I just thought, maybe it's better that she's leaving (alone;-).

see you in Daytona, Maria:-)

It's rather bittersweet that you miss a couple days of blogging and you feel like you've missed SO much, but at least you can catch up on it...I'm SOOO sorry that Maria is leaving.  I know she is your pride and joy and you've enjoyed working with eachother.  While I know you can't imagine a better person to fill her shoes, I'm sure the same is true on her part.  She will be greatly greatly missed and I wish her nothing but the best!

Peter, You are right, maybe I should have gotten rid of her a long time ago!1;)  She is a hottie if I do say so myself!!

Ray Ray, I am sad to see her go?  Can you imagine the office without her?

Audrey, What a nice going away present to your assistant. I hope she had the chance to read how you feel about her. Sound like somebody in Florida is going to pick get a charm. Sorry for your loss, sound like she will be hard to replace...and you are right...you can't train someone to have heart.
