During this past week I attended the monthly mixer of a local organization, which has made it their business to highlight the small businesses in the area where we live.
Since some of my specialties include live/work places and small office/commercial real estate, I like to attend as often as I can. I am always satisfied with the return on my time investment for the event.
The mixers are held either at a locally-owned restaurant, or at a Phoenix Point of Pride location, or at a Museum - all places I would have liked to visit if I could take time of my work. The photo above is from the Pueblo Grande Museum, where the mixer was hosted - I promised myself to come back and walk the 2/3 mile trail of this 1,500 year old archeological site.
During the times I attended the events I met with service and product providers, whom I had not even suspected that they exist at all, or were so close to me.
Since it's hard to talk to all attendees within the short period time, the organizer emails after the event their names and web-sites.
Some business cards remind me right away about the nature of the business, others I have entered in my database for future reference.
It was fun to learn that I just have to go to the Saturday's Farmer's market at Clark Park and find some of my favorite bakery items like Buchty, or kozunak.
