"LOVE" is the Latest Carlsbad Art Wall Mural
Carlsbad Village March 2018
The Carlsbad Art Wall has a new mural, painted this past Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 25th. I wasn’t able to stop when driving by on Sunday but there was quite a crowd watching the mural unfold.
On the off chance you are not familiar with this changing wall art in the Village, you’ll find it on the east-facing wall at a popular Mexican Restaurant in Carlsbad Village on Carlsbad village Drive, Senor Grubby’s, just west of the train tracks.
“LOVE” is a fun and colorful mural painted by Cyrus Howlett, a Los Angeles-based artist with a background in both fine art and urban art.
Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder, is the brainchild behind the Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW), created in cooperation with the owner of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant in the heart of the Village, readily seen when you are heading to the beach on Carlsbad Village Drive – look to the left just past the rail road tracks.
Carlsbad has quite a reputation as a growing and changing arts community, with abundant public art (an interactive map). And the Carlsbad Art Wall continues to be wonderful addition to our expanding and ever-changing arts community.
And the bonus for Carlsbad Village is a new installation several times per year!
Here are some recent Carlsbad Art Wall murals I particularly enjoyed:
Carlsbad Art Wall January 2018
Carlsbad Art Wall November 2017
Carlsbad Art Wall January 2016
It's always fun to see what each artist creates, and locals often hang out to watch the artists at work. It’s cool that the wall art is up for a few months, giving residents and visitors plenty of time to enjoy these very special, and fleeting, public art creations.
