OK, so I didn't get the job.  The good news is, someone else DID!  This is another avenue for Stagers to explore:  assisted living facilities!

Nestings was asked to bid on staging a one-bedroom model unit at a new assisted living facility.  It is absolutely gorgeous, with very traditional architectural detailing throughout.  The target customer is a single woman in her 80s.  This is a luxury facility, but the staging had to be done on a dime.  No problem!  I can come up with great looks for no money!  Hiring a Stager is much less than an interior designer.  My imagination was already working overtime, planning the furniture, researching special needs, selecting fabric and blue & white Chinese ceramics...

My appropriately priced bid was wrapped into the Realtor's marketing proposal, but we recently learned that we didn't get the business.  I don't know the particulars of why we lost, but you can bet I'm going after other facilities!  If one wanted staging, others will too!

Nestings provides high-quality, value-added staging and interior merchandising for occupied, vacant and model homes in Fairfield County and Connecticut.

Geat Idea Julia, I love niche target marketing. Once you know your audience its so easy to supply what they need! Kym

Julia -- good luck to you.  I am glad you took something which may at first blush seem bad and turn it into a golden opportunity.

Hi, Julia.  We just recently did an entire assisted living facility, and now all the competitors are calling us also!  We did the whole house though, and are now going to gut and remodel the bathrooms (hand me a sledge hammer!)

Julia OMG what a coincidence, my friend is a sous chef at a very high end Adult community at the PGA National. He gave my brochure and business card , Director of Admissions wants me to do a little presentation for them. I have been working hours!!! on a powerpoint presentation. Great advise to all

Julia - what a great niche!  maybe soon there will be a "senior staging specialist" designation!

Julie ~ Well, this seems to make sense with all the baby boomers at this point!  I'm sure this is a niche that will grow as time goes on.  Thanks for the tip!

Another angle is to ask the facilities if you can do a presentation for potential residents who might have an existing home for sale! Or at least give out your business card.

Julia- I once did a presentation at an assisted living facility, but it was geared toward staging the homes of people who had moved in but couldn't get their homes sold. I think I need to hunt up the business card of my contact there! Sounds like a great opportunity that maybe not everyone has thought of! Until now! ;) Good luck!
