10 Comments on Video Blog: Newspaper Advertising is a big waste of time & Money

Part of our job is customer service. It can create repeat business. The seller likes seeing the printed word. The seller eyes roll when shown a graph of the number of hits on the visual tour as it relates to traffic through the house. Seller is not interested in how many buyers their listing created. Marketing, pricing, and staging do sell houses.

Dwight,

I  understand.  Think of it this way.  Selling my client's house is a busness and not a popularity contest.

If newprint advertsing is ineffective, then as a prudent business decision I am not going to be irresponsible with my business budget.  If I am careless with my money then how can my cleint be assured that I am not going to be careless with their money when the first offer comes in?

Does this make sense?

Newsprint as a means of marketing for real estate is dead.  At some point we have to turn of the defibrillator.

I advertise the open houses in the newspaper but have not used a home magazine for advertising in a long time.

I totally agree with you Ted.  Paper advertising doesn't work for our clients.  Period!

Should you be driving while bogging?

Irina says "Should you be driving while bogging?" Why not? I'm multi-tasking ;)

I've cut out all print ads. I have no plans of doing any either. Thanks for the post. I enjoyed it. You really need to be careful while driving! =]

Print ads work only to appease the seller.   It rarely brings you business.  I have had open houses advertised in a print ad with no one in attendance.   I agree that its all Internet driven.  Your post was refreshing, positive and confirmed my thoughts.

Hi Ted,  The only value I see with a magazine print ad is when it directs clients to my website where they can see everything available. I have that as a hidden agenda.

I made the above comment.  I am not particularly computer literate.
