The top 5% Income Producers

By

Everyone wants to be at the top of their game, gain industry recognition etc.  Well I just met with one of our real estate instructor/investors James Harris. James was talking to me about how real estate professionals have a unique opportunity and advantage to profit in the current real estate market. He believes everyone in the industry can double their income with the right knowledge.  Sellilng more homes is one way and investing is another.

Since you are reading this on AR you probably know that because of the Internet, 87% of all home buyers and sellers now find their agent online? Meanwhile, the vast majority of agents who don't understand Internet marketing are starving for business - especially in this slow housing market. The old 80/20 rule that says 20% of the agents do 80% of the business is changing. Now, it's 5% of the agents are making 95% of the money - and even in this market, they are profitting.

What do you think?  Do real estate professional have an advantage to make more money today by investing in real estate?

Josef,  This is the best time to invest in real estate, when prices are down is the time to buy.  Anyone doing real estate investing knows that you make you profit when you buy.

Don,

I disagree.  First, you need to do your research on your own individual market. It's very easy and generic to give a general statement saying that "now is a good time to buy because prices are down." For example, in my area, the Inland Empire, values are still falling and I believe that right now is not a good time to buy. Unless you want to fall off the fence and be a "knife catcher," I would advoid buying at this moment in my area.  So it all depends on which market you are looking at. I would say that on a national level (on average), we haven't seen the bottom of the housing market yet.

Great post. Everyonce in a while I have to remind myself why I got into this business in the first place- to find deals! Most of the time I'm so caught up in taking care of my clients and creating a comfortable income, I forget to take that litte extra time for my own family to creat wealth. I agree and I think that this is one of those times where we have an incrediable opportunity to create wealth by being on the inside- whether now, or when the last knife has fallen in our particular area.
