Today on the news the President blamed the speculators on the high price of gas, saying they are driving up the cost of oil.  So my question is why don't they take it off the stock market and control it through the government for a while.  We can't keep letting them hurt our economy just to make a profit.  Matthew 16:24 says it all in the Bible "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? So is money worth it if you destroy the world and your soul?  We have got to start looking after our country and pray for help, because we will fall without God blessing.  We need to speak up and let our goverment know a enough is enough!  We need change.

6 Comments on Gas price got you down ?

Kathy- Exactly correct about getting oil off the stock market. The government oversees pricing on alot of things, like home heating costs and electricity (atleast here in MI). A few years ago California deregulated electricity... and thats when the rolling blackouts started, the fake electricity shortages, and higher prices.

Kathy- You need to watch the news from other parts of the world and see what a total fiasco it is when governments control oil. So you want to make more pollution sitting in line at gas stations and spend hours of your time which is worth much more than money in lines to get gas?

Study current events in Venezuela where the communist dictator has the oil under total government control, it is a mess and horrible for a free market to survive. Look and study what is happening in the total fiasco in China where there is government controls over gas prices and the supply. And now the problems and violence over in Indonesia over governmental policies over oil.

Government has NEVER succeeded involved with our lives and our businesses. Study free market and capitalism. The rise in gas prices is a good thing. Only good will come out of it.

The answer to the gas prices is to lower demand. We have too much demand and too low supply. This is the universal law of supply and demand.

You have hundreds of thousands of barrells of rich oil within our own country that has a 20 year moratorium on it to drill.

You have OPEC calling all the shots and we are dependant on them.

The oil companies only made a 7% profit and paid more taxes. Those taxes helped with all sorts of social programs in our country.

This is a wake up call. In every adversity there is an equivalent or greater benefit. When you think twice about where you are going to drive because of the cost of gas, that is a good thing!

The government is the one that is not allowing us to get more oil AND not allowing us to go after new resources. It is the government that is creating the problem and bowing down to OPEC.

Oil is a costly resource. The people that invested in it are now seeing great rewards for their investments.

Well I grew up with the understanding from my parents and grandparents that the US fed the world because we were so prosperous. So having said that my question to you would be removing the countries we provide food aid to wouldn't we benefit or show the world that we will not stand for this any more by saying " OK a barrell of oil costs $130.00 we will pay that. But you should understand we will then have to charge $90.00 for a bushel of wheat or corn or soy or anything else that is bountiful in our country."

Your thoughts are always welcome

Traveler's Rest is a place I have been through a few times on the way to Ridgecrest, NC. Your post makes me think that travelers in the good ol' USA need some rest from gas prices! I do. Anyway, thanks for pointing us to the Word of God. The scary thing is that what is happening in the world these days sounds like some end time passages in God's Word. Must live by faith and not by fear, for as God promised, He will be near!

I do agree that the government has caused most of the problems and is not acting to solve them!

Gas prices have limited my activity and the activity of the family.

Oh Well!
