North, South, East or West, Spokane Washington is the best!

If you are considering traveling to, or buying real estate in Spokane. Wa. You are in for a treat! Let me give you a quick overview like a travelers guide of the basic areas of Spokane. Perhaps you know that Forbes Magazine rated Spokane, Wa. as the 9th best place to start a business. (2008). WOW!!!

NORTH SPOKANE Geographically this is a much larger and more populated than the south side. Closer to the river and downtown, north Spokane is part of District 81 schools. When you proceed farther north, you enter the Mead School district (http://www.mead354.org/). The north side has a lot to offer, including great restaurants and shopping at the north town mall! There are dozens of new neighborhoods and wonderful areas in North Spokane. Northeast Spokane is the home of the beautiful Esmerelda Golf Corse:

As well as the Andrew Rypen Sports Field where many families gather for youth sports.

Another great place in northeast Spokane is Minnehaha Park which provides great hiking and rock climbing.

Housing is very diverse from northside city neighborhoods with home prices of say, 135-200K, and more expensive homes in the north suburbs, of which there are many. (200-325 average home price). These are generalizations, based on experience. In the outlying north areas it is beautifully treed and provides great access to the Newport Highway (Hwy 2) and North Division which turns into Hwy 395. These are handy ways to get to several area lakes !

North Spokane is the home of Whitorth College and the beautiful Spokane Country Club. Northwest provides the cozy Audubon Park and Shadle neighborhoods, as well as the home of the beautiful Downriver Golf Corse.

Traveling further northwest brings you along the river to the gorgeous Suncrest area where many homes are on larger lots, such as 1 acre parceled neighborhoods and homes on acreage. This area is known as 9 mile as it is 9 miles from town! In general, home prices on the north side are a fraction lower than the south side. The first home we purchased in 1978 was in north Spokane.

WEST SPOKANE

West Spokane is home to the stunning Indian Canyon Golf Corse:

Providing possibly the most beautiful view of Spokane, this public corse is absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I owned an amazing house just behind the 17th green of Indian Canyon and didn’t lose a single window! West Spokane is especially convenient to the Spokane airport, and Fairchild AFB, and Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wa. There is the incredible Finch Arboretum in southwest Spokane which provides an incredible outing for a picnic. I have seen wild bunnies, deer, and a moose at the Arboretum!

Just a few minutes East of Spokane is the Spokane Valley, which is now incorporated as its own city. Yes, I lived in the valley too! When I was in 5th-7th grade I lived in the Spokane Valley. The valley is wonderful, and has a great shopping mall, The Spokane Valley Mall.

The valley is located just minutes from town via I90 and offers many beautiful neighborhoods. Just east of the valley is the beautiful city of Liberty Lake,Wa. Close to my heart, I lived on the lake when I was in JR and SR High. Almost on the Idaho border, Liberty Lake is just 20 minutes from the world famous  Couer d Alene , Idaho.

  Liberty Lake

There are wonderful neighborhoods in outlying Liberty Lake with home prices averages of 275-325K. Of corse living closer to the lake, or on the lake will cost you! There is a great park there, Pavillion Park (http://www.pavillionpark.org/) and also a public beach and gorgeous county park with great camping and hiking.

SOUTH SPOKANE:

I did an entire blog entry on the Spokane’ s South Hill because I currently live here. I hope you take a moment to read it if you are considering relocating to Spokane, or visiting. Having lived in Spokane my entire life, and owning homes in each pat of Spokane, I am here to provide comprehensive , timely service to you as a realtor.

See my web site! www.BethAnnHomes.com These are tidbits of information, and there is so much more to say about all of these areas.

I love Spokane!  We live in Missoula...and go there often.  Our next really big trip will be to the Phantom of the Opera in October!!!  My wife is already super excited about going to see it live again.
