Morning Sun Searcy AR

 

Look what I've found this time.  This is a postcard of Morning Sun, Searcy AR.  It is a newspaper copy and not a great picture but who would have thought there'd be one at all?

Morning Sun reminds me of one of our real estate friends who said as a young man he worked at the filling station there for some super salesman.  He was trained to go out and say, "Fill er up?"  Then he'd do the service on the car.  They apparently also had a snack bar.  He was to make a milk shake and he'd say, "One egg or two?"  Notice no option for NO eggs.  It was a sales trick and very successful.

Morning Sun was actually just a corner and is still just a corner BUT the corner is now surrounded by the gas exploration going on in our area.  Land that used to be considered mosquito infested is now selling for about $10,000 per acre or more for the buildings required for the gas companies.  I sold some land for an RV park to be built to house all the RV's that house workers.

It still has a gas station, much larger and the road is paved but any Searcy people will like this card.

Very good post!  Morning Sun has grown some since then!  Gas exploration has helped White County.

The way I remember seeing Morning Sun was out of the window of a Trailway Bus on the way to Little Rock.The bus stopped there going and coming.  I never got off the bus. Morning Sun was a strange place to me. There was nothing around for miles.

I made the trip once a month for two years while I was having my braces adjusted. I think Morning Sun is imprinted in my mind's eye forever.

Paula, thank you so much for commenting and for the call tonight from your husband.  I just realized who you are!!  Going to Little Rock to get braces fixed implies that you were one blessed and lucky child.  Most people back then lived with what they had.....no second chance with braces!!  I guess Morning Sun seems close now but at that time it would have seemed like a far distance from Searcy.  Thanks for reading my blogs!!

Jennifer, Anita loaned it to me but the state newspaper runs a post card every day on the comics page.
