Vaccinations can be very expensive...Even for horses!  The stable where I board

my horse has several horses.  So, we decided to buy our vaccines in bulk and

administer them ourselves.  This would save us each over $100!  Great idea!

You know how you hold the the syringe up in the air and push the plunger up to

let out any air bubbles?  Well, I pushed - ever so gently - in order to do this,

                                   and the plunger wouldn't budge.

So, I pushed just a teeny tiny bit harder - and - you guessed it - Out went a big

stream of vaccine!  This precious, expensive vaccine... wasted!   Fortunately,

there was enough left to administer to my horse...  But, it was close.

The moral to my story is...  Be careful when you're trying to save money!  It

might cost you more in the long run...  :)

it is funny that many people will trip over dollar biills to pick up nickels.  there is a reason that we have vets and doctors and Agents and mortgage planners

The important thing is now you know.  Lesson learned is you either get better at it or hire a professional.  Good job!

Its is true.  This can be seen in many forms.  Thanks for sharing your experience.  Lu

I remember that!  When I had to learn to give shots because my young filly with strangles required them twice a day, many moons ago, my vet had me practice with water in syringes until I got the hang of it.  Wise man, he - I got wet a few times, but never wasted the precious medicine.

Tricia -  That was very wise.  That's what I should've done...  Well, we learn from our mistakes!  :)

Hey, it wasn't me, it was him!  I suspect he'd seen (or heard about after the fact) your scenario a few times in the past.
