I just wanted to make a little fun of the agents that have "Top 1%" or "Million Dollar Producer" on their cards.
I love these "awards" or titles. I get a kick out of them.
Lets start with the "Million Dollar Producer." A friend of mine saw this on somebody's card and was like "wow," they actually thought that it meant something impressive. They thought the agent was a millionaire! I pointed out that all it meant was that he sold $1,000,000 worth of property in 12 months. So in the DC area, if they sold two condos, one condo for $495,000 and another for $505,000, they would be able to use this title on their card.
What a croc.
And the "Top 1%" is a little better. But first, have you ever seen a "Top 2%" or "Top 3%?", how about "Top 10%", or "Top Sweet 16%"
With reports showing that the average Realtor makes $17,000 a year, mostly due to the overwhelming number of weekend warriors, at what point is comparing yourself to that, considered impressive? I guess it is impressive if your clients are clueless to how everything works.
Also with there being 1,000,000 Realtors, the top 1% is actually "Top 10,000," but I guess that doesn't read as well.
Has anybody had that title on their card and removed it since they knew it was fluff (in some areas where homes are priced higher and EVERYONE has that on their cards)?
Sincerely,
Frank Borges LL0SA
"#1 Realtor, based on sales volume, in America Under Age 30 in 2004"*,
AND this was in my FIRST year. (that is technically true)
* This is actually true. Technically there was no award for this, but with my $75M in sales volume in my first year when I was 29, that made me #1 under 30 across all companies. So that title is "self proclaimed"
How does that go? If you can't overpower them with your presence, then baffle them with your bull----. I had million dollar producer on my card in 1985. I took it off because, to be relative, it should be 15 million dollar producer.
