April 16 is National Librarian Day, Thank Your Local Librarians Today
by Silicon Valley REALTOR Michelle Carr Crowe
Silicon Valley residents are blessed to enjoy a nationally-recognized library system, the Santa Clara County Library.
Consistently winning awards in its size category, the SCCL offers multiple locations including Cupertino, Los Altos, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Woodland, Milpitas, Campbell and Saratoga, featuring a huge variety of materials, resources and even free classes.
Each user may request up to twelve holds on materials including movie DVDs, music CDs, PC games, manga books, magazines, comic books, e-books, and of course, regular old-fashioned paper books.
Users can even suggest materials for purchase. Each library patron can check out up to 100 items at a time-that's a very generous lending allowance. Movies, magazines and certain collections are checked out for a week; most books are checked out for three weeks.
Whatever your library affiliation-school, community, private or otherwise, be sure to thank a librarian today.
