Maintaining a public persona and a real life persona could be a ...

Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices 01238708

Maintaining the reality of your public persona and your real-life persona could be a delicate balance. Hard to believe, but many agents do not get the concept of what you write about, what they post about is in the public domain.

Just to give you an example, I Google Endre Barath and Endre Barath, Jr. every day. No, it is not about ego, it is about seeing what the potential buyers and sellers and referring agents see. WHY? The answer is simple every time I connect with someone I do a Google Search on them. Just to make sure they are for real; hence I expect them to do the same of me.

Now with that said since I anticipate the search, I also want to be clear as to what they see. I write about Real Estate in general, specifically I write about the Malibu Ocean View Homes, just as I write about Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hills View Homes. I am also focused on writing about Vacant Lots in Los Angeles and vicinity. I write a few Market Trends Reports of the various pockets of Los Angeles. There are times I take a strong position if I disagree as to what I read about in one of the many platforms that exposes and writes about Real Estate, the economy and other events connected to Real Estate. Now this could be perceived as confrontational or it can be perceived it is logically presented that I am Right and the others are wrong…PERIOD!

I do not want to bore my regular readers; hence I write about great wines, fantastic food and superb Restaurants in the greater Los Angles area. This is clearly by design, since I like all the previously mentioned, hence if someone else likes the same as I do, then we have synchronicity.

Since I am an avid reader, I write about books and provide book reviews, just as I do about Restaurants. These are all intentionally done to connect with like minded buyers and sellers of Real Estate in the Greater Los Angeles area, specifically Beverly Hills, CA.

My private life is an open book everyone knows I support animal rescue organizations and I am a Pet Friendly Realtor in Los Angeles.

So, you say, but Endre where is that delicate balance you talked about at the beginning of this post? Well that is the hard part. I do not spew Political Propaganda, I do not take Political Positions and I do not write about Religious Beliefs and I do not comment on Religious or Political Posts outside of a relatively Neutral Comment?

I am on all the social platforms for one reason, so buyers and sellers can get to know me, like my style and then want to do business with me either buying or selling properties in the Greater Los Angeles area. Well I do not have to tell you Facebook has been known to get down right hostile and people would take hostile positions just because someone else had a different view. So with that said, I keep my views to myself.

So, if I spewed political dogma and religious dogma, I am confident I would alienate many of my clients. Hence the delicate balance is to keep my fingers from typing “stuff” that could potentially be going against my belief systems as well as my business goals.

Now if you are looking for a well balanced and successful Beverly Hills Realtor to represent you in your purchase or sale of your property, please reach out to me directly!

If you are looking for a pet friendly Beverly Hills Realtor who can handle and sell the most difficult properties that no one else could, please reach out to me directly!! If you are considering buying or selling a home, a luxury home, luxury investment real estate, luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu, feel free to contact me at 310.486.1002 (m) or or visit one of my websites at  I contribute a portion of my commission to local animal rescue organizations.

Taboo. Certain subjects are simply taboo as a public persona. Those that don't get it could pay a high price.

Such great points. So many topics are very socially charged these days and more than ever. Leaning on positions or opinions that do more to unite than divide is the trick, or craft worth practicing.

There are some subject that should not be broached with anyone but our closest friends. Religion, politics, and bias should never enter the business setting. Thank you for sharing.

Endre I agree it is a delicate balance but it is a balance must be maintained in this business.

Dear Endre,

When people ask me directly, I am honest about my political beliefs or religion, but neither are at the forefront of my repertoire of conversation. More interesting to find out, what clients need & want, so I can help them fulfill their needs.

Hi Endre

I like your philosophy and it resembles mine. There are also certain topics I just don't feel a need to spend time talking about in the public domain, even though I have my thoughts about them.

I also check my name regularly and also check potential clients, vendors and others.

I wonder why mentioning religion or a political belief is usually described as "spewing dogma"?  It's like a switch is flipped when some topics come up.  I like red wine and you might like white wine.  Can two people discuss their different preferences?

Do people see real estate agents who warn of the dangers of FSBO and such as spewing real estate dogma?

HI Endre Barath, Jr. - Congrats on the gold star!  Staying neutral is something everyone who has a vested inerest as a business person should do.  I am actually amazed that a lot of people don't do it.

I add one step in the google process. I actually have it on my "Meet Sheri" page with a button "Google Sheri Sperry". In addition, I put "Google Sheri" (with the search 'Sheri Sperry" link in my signature area of my email.

I actually just closed on a luxury home with a top level I.S. person from a Silicon Valley Tech company who "googled" me and chose me for my website and content.

Agreed! And guess what? I don't know anyone who has changed someones' mind about politics, religion, or any other controversial topic. I'm an expert in real estate. I have my hobbies that hopefully will interest a buyer or seller and encourage them to call me. My differing political beliefs will not.

Since these are troubling times and many people are seeking out like-minded people who share their core values, I don't mind sharing my progressive ethics and principles. Some people might see that as political, but those are the very people who would not get along with me anyway, so I still win.

This keeping silent in exchange for compensation is confusing to me.

As for your searching every day on Google, Endre, you know you can set up automatic Google alerts for whatever search terms you want, right? You can ask Google to send you reports on Endre Barath, Jr. as its own search term.

Oh, I couldn't agree more, Endre! I try to do that routinely as well because I've gotten great feedback from it! Funny but, I posted tonight that Ray & I were celebrating our anniversary at a restaurant in a community that I know quite well and have a few clients there also. A couple (past clients) popped in and had a drink, wishing us a happy anniversary on their way to an event this evening!

People want to know you and a 'stiff' persona who boasts about how 'great' they are in business just doesn't get it for me...or any consumer!

BTW, great wine in the shot!
