NEW HOUSING TREND

By
Real Estate Agent with Zach Taylor Real Estate 213-638

During the explosive years of real estate we found that clients wanted bigger and bigger homes with lots and lots of square footage, higher ceilings, multiple floors, two or three living areas, several fireplaces, (gas of course).  Well those homes are still out there and there they are still in great demand.  Don't get me wrong there is a place for them, but with the price of everything today ideas of the ideal home are changing.

A large portion of the general (average) home buying public whether young or old, with the price of everything going up, up, up are making the decision that bigger isn't necessarily better, at least for them.

Many are tired of the trips up and down the stairs, whether from the basement garage lugging groceries up, or from the second (or third) floor lugging the laundry up and /or down, they are deciding the stairs are unnecessary.

Many are seeking One Level Living, Few to Zeo Steps maybe only trey ceilings instead of high vaulted ceilings, kitchens that are the hub of the home (keyword HOME), without sacrificing style and character.

With many households where both adults are working they have less time for yard work, so smaller lots are quite popular.  But, privacy is still important so shrubs, hedges, trees and privacy fences, separating, shading and giving that privacy are important.

This new or should I say revived trend also hold rewards in the heating and air bills, its bringing the family back closer together.

But whether you are looking for the new trend in homes or that One of A Kind Custom Home, they are all out there and homebuyers need to be sure they find a Real Estate Agent that will take the time to get in touch with what you want, so before you get in the car and start looking, take a look at your needs, whats and what you can afford or what to pay, this will save you alot of anxiety.

Great stuff, Doris.

I like having two stories. We have four kids, and it'[s nice to send them to the other side of the house sometimes for alone time.

But the cleaning, air conditioning, lawn care...I totally understand the trend that less is more. Our busy lives...who wants to mow the lawn anymore?

Doris- I'm noticing the same trend. I have a few people who are downsizing for a variety of reasons: they don't want to go up and down stairs, they want to be closer to work, the kids are gone, or... they simply want to simplify. Now's a great time- with prices the way they are, to make that move.

We have also been seeing the same trend.  Far fewer referrals for huge homes.  Most of them just want a decent home, not a dream home.

Doris, been hearing the same, less square footage, but more bells and whistles.
