I've been settling into the Long & Foster office and trying to conduct business while still upacking from my recent Prudential Homesale Services move.  It's funny how it takes just a day or so to pack up almost a decade's worth of office stuff, yet it takes almost a week (and probably more) to unpack.  We're still finding stuff that we really don't need ~ and for some reason were compelled to bring with us.  Yet, there are other things ~ files, forms, marketing material ~ that we need, yet can't find.  Where in the world did we put those Merchandiser advertising rate sheets?Settling in at my new Long & Foster office. And, who messed with my coffee machine!

We learned today that our personal little coffee machine was flipping the circuit breakers ~ not good!  We'll have to find somewhere else to put that cute little Senseo that I have become very addicted to.  It's funny, but it's been working fine up to now.  And all of the sudden, today we kept tripping the breakers.  For some reason it is *really* cold in our private office, and a hot cup of java is just what we need to keep us going!

I FINALLY learned (somewhat) how to use the phone system today.  And I've got the copy machine mastered to some degree (okay, not "mastered" but I can make copies).  We had the "official" office tour and orientation, and I couldn't help but feel like I was on a class trip or something, following the guide and paying close attention in case there is a pop quiz later on in the day.

And, in case of rain, I have my new handy dandy Long & Foster bright red umbrella that my partner Bob Wells so generously purchased for all of us.  What a nice surprise!  So, if anyone out there is thinking of cancelling any of our scheduled showings because of rain in the forecast, no need to worry!  I will keep you dry AND find you the home of your dreams!

And, slowly, my previous listings are being transferred over to me at the new broker on the MLS.  This has taken longer than I would have liked, although I don't think the hold up is either at our end or my previous office affiliation, yet is somehow taking more time at the local association level.  They must be busy with all this movin' and shakin' that's been going on!

The best part of the move so far is that my new Lititz listing is getting attention, and I think I've just about wrapped up an offer ~ not bad for my first week at the new "digs"!

Jeannie:  Welcome to L&F!  We're a good group of folks.  And you are already one step ahead of me.  My Haymarket, VA office was merged with the Gainesville, VA office in January.  Gainesville has much newer phones than Haymarket and I still don't know how to answer them.  I only know how to make outgoing calls.  Thank God I work from home!

Julie - I'm going to need to get a Long & Foster coffee mug to go with my coffee!  Thanks for stopping by.

Dan - I discovered the e-fax today -- gotta love being a newbie!  Although I have to admit I think I'm going to miss my old copier/scanner/with email.

Chris - I can do the outgoing calls, and I can answer -- not sure about how to transfer anything yet.  I'll stick to using my cell phone until I need to learn the phones better.  Which means I might need to stay away from duty time until I can work the phones a bit better!  Thanks for the warm welcome to L&F ~ loving it so far!

I love the coffee mug logo as well!  I've noticed many realtors make changes this year!

Thanks

Don't forget to update your information on any websites that you joined or posted your information on.  I did not realize how many of them there were out there, besides my own.

It's funny, but I left my old company after Long & Foster acquired it, and I still havent' totally unpacked!  It's been almost a year.  Huge doesn't work for me, but if it works for you, you've made an excellent choice!  Good luck in your new digs!

Tom - I'm on a hunt for a red Long & Foster coffee mug!  I'm sure they must be available somewhere.

Linda - I just went through that whole "changing" thing when the company I was with switched from Coldwell Banker to Prudential.  I tried to keep track of them all so that I can make an easy switch now.  The easiest way to do it is to google your name and the former affiliation name to see where it keeps popping up.

Patricia - Believe it or not this Long & Foster move is to a smaller, more intimate office.  I went from a 29-office company (about 150 +/- agents in my building alone and I think about 1,100 total) to a much smaller company and L&F branch.  I love it so far.  Even my clients who have come to the new office at L&F have commented on how much more comfortable and inviting it is for them.    Thanks for the good wishes!
