Recently I bought an Epson v200 photo scanner. After scanning and touching up with the scanners software I still was not satisfied with the end result.

Then I remembered a post that Jeff Turner of Real Estate Shows had done last year talking about a site called Picnik that he used to really snaz up his pictures. I think that the following pics speak for them selves.

Not bad for a free site!

This picture was taken in the late 60's (who would

have guessed) as you can see the first picture

looks washed out, and this is after I touched it

up with the scanners software. Then I went to

Picnik and played with it for a couple of minutes

and this 2nd picture is what I ended up with. Note

the yellow on the little girls coat was due to a

lousy storage practice, not recomended. In the

event you are wondering who these people are. The

man is my father-in-law, my brother in law is on

his right, and holding his left hand is the gal I have been married to for the last 22 years.

Now when I take my pictures for the MLS, of the great Santa Clarita Real Estate, they will look awesome.

A remarkable program, if you can find it, is Micrografx Picture Publisher 7. It was one of the finest photo editing software suites ever produced and came bundled with the old Plustek scanners from the late 1990's. Astonishing program, and runs on very little drive space, is compatible with nearly any scanner, camera or imaging device known to mankind, and has thousands of brilliant editing features, and is so user friendly it nearly does everthing for you. It's one of those great programs that became hard to find before people realized what they had. The best programs are the least popular.

Here's a link to the paid version, but if you look around you might find a free download.

Rob...

I love Picnik...When Hubba (Jeff Turner) showed it to us I spent days fixing up some of my images. As you can see by the following I had a blast Picnicking in the Rain :)

Sole Property of TLW and Roar Productions. Get off my images people :)

You are right about that, not bad for a free site. We all need to get our pictures to digital!

Bob, you did a good job at restoring the old photo. Not bad results for a free program.

Good Post!

Hi Rob,
I used Picnik a couple of times and forgot about it, I usually use Picasa (free too) and it does a super job also.  Now I need to compare.  You've made work for me, thanks a lot.  LOL.

Your welcome Cynthia. In my opinion Picnik offers more than Picasa.

Awesome photo touchup Rob. I didn't know there was an ability to enhance photos this well.
