The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books April 21-April 22,2018
The first event took place in 1996 and has generated millions of readers to visit and connect with authors and like-minded book lovers. It generally takes place the last weekend of April, book lovers and book sellers look forward to this event year after year.
Diane and I went for the first time when it was the 3rd Annual Festival. We have blocked of this weekend year after year to focus and concentrate to this local event. I had to miss it one year due to family emergency, but Diane represented the household and if you ever visit our home you will see that we have supported this great venue year after year with purchasing the books, the T-shirts as well as the coffee mugs to name a few. The bulk of our support has been the books.
If you have never been and you love books, then you need to put this event on your must visit destination events.
We run into many of the same people year after year and it is like seeing old friends again. The same book lovers, the same book sellers. Often the authors are the same, since we like their writings, hence we end up becoming friends with them and we catch up with small talk as we discuss their books and their family lives.
Diane loves to go to the panels where there are some great discussions and Q & A’s after it, most of the time I do not participate in them, because I want to be at the front of the line when it comes to autographing the books
A few years ago we made friends with a couple and we talked them into coming to the Los Angeles Festival of books. They in turn ended up convincing me to go to the panels. Last year as well as this year was really the first time when I opted to go to the panels. The discussions are lively and entertaining and, in some cases, very relevant. Clearly, I must admit I enjoyed them. Now with that said I must keep this post, short since we are heading back early tomorrow as well.
In closing if you have never been and you love books this is a must visit destination.
