After being in real estate for quite some time, I came to the conclusion, that the weather is the enemy of the agent, unless, of course, it simply singles me out.
My first job in the US was a resettlement coordinator for Met. Council in New York. I was handling Russian refugees coming to Co-Op City. I was not an agent at this time, but because my clients could not speak any English, I accompanied them to all showings, and soon the agents would open the door and let me run the show.
I remember going to higher floors of those highrises and expecting our clients to be knocked out by the incredible views of the Goose Island, Hutchinson River, Pelham Bay Park, and then the navy blue waters of Long island Sound…but too often they could not see any of that. There was too much fog. All they could see was the milky outside...
It was long ago.
I have been living in Florida for 22 years. In Florida, where you hardly ever have bad weather… Right?
Wrong...
I am working with a client, and every time we show her oceanfront condos, it is gloomy, no sun, and the ocean is dark and unwelcoming… Funny, but 2 days between the showings everything would be just great. Blue skies, beautiful ocean… And then the showing… and angry ocean…
Weather is not cooperating with me, that’s for sure.
