You know, it's nothing these days to hear everyone sharing their right for Freedom of Speech.  Which overall I think is great.  For the most part, we get to hear opinions and share thoughts without getting upset with each other.  And we can agree to disagree.

With that thought in mind, I'd like to share with you a comment that I came across on MySpace.  The comment is from a Christian Rapper who slammed the Government in a couple of his songs.

His blog says:  "I stand corrected" (DISCLAIMER)

In it, he has his own comment along with these several scriptures:  2nd Timothy 3:16...........All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rapper Comments:  "Sometimes even as ministers and keepers of the Gospel we must be corrected and rebuked! So therefore I stand here corrected. On my 2005 (H2O) "What" "Questions" and 2006(Even Louder) "Amen" releases I go real hard and begin to bash our government/president. I begin to rap about how I believed that this person was controlled by evil forces and what not. Now I'm not into politics as much as I should be. I was speaking of things that I knew very little of. Although, I do believe that a lot of things that go on in this country are wrong. Now that I think about it, I don't believe it was my place to bring slander on our president's name. I just wanted to apologize to those who I may have offended and to my ongoing listeners. Although, things may not be 100 % perfect in America I am very fortunate to live here. YAH bless!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jude 1:9
But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

Romans 13:2
Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves

Hebrews 13:17
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

"There's no need for anymore scripts, you get my point!  Philippians 1:6    YAH isn't done with me y'all"

As I was reading his blog, I thought don't we all get carried away sometimes with our pointing fingers and blaming of someone?  And then it dawned on me...who we should really be blaming.  So, I wrote him a comment that says:

I took some time to read your blogs this morning & just wanted to comment on the "I Stand Corrected" blog you wrote.

My point of view has been...that it's easy for all of us to blame the Government in all its levels for failing or coming up short in certain situations.

Our Government was started by men who honored God, believed in Him and followed His guidelines & commandments, which helped them structure our initial policies in the US.

God's enemy & our enemy has been fighting to destroy the US from the inside out ever since our declaration of a free nation UNDER GOD began.

Our enemy has been behind the corruption we as Christians see taking hold in our society and even in our Governments (local, state, and national).  Unfortunately, our enemy's goal is to kill and destroy from the inside out.  And more unfortunate than that...we have people in our society who are willing to allow themselves to be the vessel to accomplish our enemy's goals.  Some realize they are his vessel and are willing to do his destructive work.  Others don't realize the lies and deceit our enemy is placing in their minds and hearts in order to gain access to their actions, thoughts and words.  All need our prayers, not necessarily our condemnation.

As for those who are or have been bashing our President, my only thought is this.  God has allowed for President Bush to be in his position.  The President is a praying man of God and works hard at upholding God's principals and what he feels God's asking of him.

The President does this on a daily basis despite the fact that he is surrounded by an enemy, the same enemy that God has and we have also.  The same enemy who fights dirty and underhanded in order to win, get his way and destroy us.

The way I view it is...the US has been Blessed with another 4 years of having a Godly man sitting in the Commander & Chiefs chair.  The next 4 years we may not be as fortunate.  At least our current President believes in God and believes in taking a stand with Israel.  He may not agree with everything they do, but he realizes we need to keep our eyes on the middle east, not only as a nation, but as a Christian.

He needs our prayers, not our pointing fingers.  Remember he's surrounded by the enemy and there's a weekly battle going on throughout the Senate and House to fight him on policies he believes in.  He may not always be right.  But, are any of us?  I know I fall short daily at being Christ-like and making all the right decisions.  That's what God's forgiveness, grace and mercy is all about.  Because we aren't perfect, does that mean we should be mocked and hurt?  I don't think so.  I feel the President needs our prayers to uplift him in his decisions, to strengthen him in his convictions and wisdom in God's word to guide him and help him make good decisions...because after all, they do affect us, do they not.

The enemy has already accomplished taking prayer out of schools and removing the pledge of allegiance to the flag.  He's working on having the words "Under God" removed from everything...money, courthouses and more!  Sometimes prayer is all we can do when the fight is not in our hands.  And some of these fights are not within our power.  That's why we all need to vote for the next election.  Vote for who you feel would be the least likely candidate to oppose God's commandments.  Unfortunately, we don't have another term for a man of God such as President Bush.  The rest of the fight for the white house is in God's hands.  Our job is to vote.

May God Bless you abundantly for following your convictions and writing an apology.

I hope I haven't offended anyone with my comments.  And I'd love to hear your points of view if you'd like to share them.

God's Best,
Sherri

6 Comments on Freedom Of Speech...

Well, I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Here are my reasons....

A.) many will say they believe in God, will even show us "miracles" but we are not to be followers of them. Do we just sit and be quiet and let people jump "into the lava" or do we remind them of the scriptures that tell us even the elite will be fooled.

B.) The anti-christ himself will fool many. Do we sit back and just be quiet or try to tell/show people the fallacy of this man. He will be the leader of us all. So we are to obey and respect this anti-christ?!?! I won't. Just because someone is in a position of authority does not mean God calls us to obey that person.

C.) Romans 13:2....do you really think he meant that we are to follow authority when that authority is human and makes mistakes or could authority mean a higher authority like God? Of course that is taking it out of context but I do not believe we are called to obey the authority that could lead us astray like many of the authority of today. Back in Jesus' time if the disciples had followed the "authority" they would have hated Jesus. They would have crucified and mocked and not believed in him as most of the authority did.

There is a time for obedience to authority and there is a time to question that authority when that authority is leading us down the wrong path. Not everyone is called to do that. Some are called to minister to the sick. Some are called to minister in other ways. But there are some who are called to keep authority in check least we become more of a Godless nation. If we all remain silent then it is as good as showing agreement to the wicked ways. Even our president can make mistakes. He says he is a man of God. Is he? If you can tell by a man's fruits....then what is his "fruit" saying to you?

God gave us free will. Just because a man is our leader does not mean it is good in God's eyes, willed by God or ordained by God, or else the antichrist would never become our leader. Yes, God has allowed for President Bush to be in his position but that doesn't mean anything except further proof of free will. Even the will to elect a president that may or may not be the best thing for this country.

I should add however that you can disagree with "authority" respectfully. These rap songs where they are disagreeing with authority by saying they should shoot cops and stuff....that is just wrong.

Hi Cheri,

Thank you for commenting!  I can see your point of view.

I guess my point to the Christian Rapper was that we need to recognize who all Christians are fighting against.  I don't believe Christians should not have a voice or take a stand for their beliefs.  And I definitely believe we have to be aware of the anti-Christ and dig into God's word so we're not led astray.  But recognizing who is trying to destroy us individually and as a nation should give us some perspective when placing blame.

Thanks again!!

Great post Sherri,

I too have had to use my eraser and repent for comments that were made out of order. I am glad that this person was able to see the error of His ways and had the good sense to say, "I am sorry". That is such a hard thing for some people to do, in or outside of the body of Christ. To God be the Glory in all things. I thank Him for the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that I recognize when I am wrong and move swiftly towards repentance.

Hi Gwendolyn!

Thank you for your comment.  Apologizing is hard for most of us to do.  But, hard as it might be, it's a necessity for those of us who are believers of Christ.  To be forgiven...we have to be able to forgive.  And apologizing is the same as asking someone for forgiveness...sometimes!

God's Best, Sherri
